I tried allowing both Bi-generational and monogenerational life forms. But somehow no monogenerational pushed through.

(Monogen. Plants are greenish, animals blueish. For bi-gen. It's cyanish & magentaish.)

Vegetation spawning on planet. One type produces pinkish animals to procreate, the other just grows more plants. When they are close, the Bi-generational Lifeforms are at an Advantage, since they can eat the other plants and seed put there.

Planet in Periodic Trefoil-Trisolaris System.

Here we see the Advantage of Bi-generational Lifeforms: When temperature gets too hot, the forest sheds its leaves and powers down to survive, to then grow a new clan in... Spring?

#creativecoding #evolution #trisolaris

Bottom: An orange, a yellow and a white star orbiting in 3-rotationally symmetric ellipses (I think) A green planet orbits the white star initially, then the yellow one. Top: Pulsating Temperature Field. Forest growing, Tribes woozling around them, going extinct, start woozling again.

@satyarth
Thanks!

First I calculate the temperature charts of the planet.
Then I let plants and animals evolve.
There is a low probability for new plants/animals to spawn(except if the planet's empty, then it's one). These are adapted for the current local temperature and have random durability parameters. The higher the durability, the lower the energy toll for enduring temperature differences, but the higher the energy cost for growing.

Plants can grow leaves (that cost energy to make & to keep alive) to absorb thermal energy. If the cost of maintaining the leaves is higher than what they gain, they can shed leaves.

Animals can eat various parts of plants or nutrition off the ground(that gets added when life forms die there. And "rots away" the higher the temperature. In the beginning there is a constant nutrition field). There ate different parameters determining how efficiently the animal can absorb energy of the different sources.

Animals/Plants must first grow to full size, than they can procreate.

A mutability parameter decides how much all the parameters randomly change in the offspring.

This is a bi-generational lifeform:

Plants grow animal offspring, animals shed seed for new plants.

In animal form the genes are more mobile, while in plant form they can shed leaves to better endure extreme temperatures.

Blue dots (animals) appear on green plants, move around a little, then seed out geen plants, such that the forest grows... When temperature rises the animals migrate, but don't survive, but the forest grows new animals.
