back at the airport because they fucked up my paperwork. thankfully they'll reprint my visitor record instead of me having to mail an application and wait 5 (five) weeks for them to amend it. the power of showing up really works
one of the customs agents also was like "you need a work permit" and i kept insisting i had an exemption and she kept pointing me to the immigration act. i was about to pull out the actual text of the law i printed out ahead of time before another officer stepped in and saved his coworker from the biggest roasting of her lifetime. just goes to show how little they know about the laws they're enforcing. very scary
this happened during my layover in torono as well. i kept telling the officer i had a work permit exemption, he said "nah dw about it you'll be able to get an sin with this", and he gave me a munted visitor record. i was in for a very unpleasant surprise when i tried to actually apply for one and they said im ineligible to work (which, according to the visitor record i got, was technically true). after i went to the international center at my host university, i found out that three other people also were in the same situation. toronto immigration is just cursed i guess
