2 passes + touch-up before bed tonight. Always preferable to getting up early Monday morning for my shave.

nowrongnotes,

I wouldn’t say notably better than K2, but I think it feels slightly more moisturizing, with a bit better post-shave feel.

Happy New Year!

Prep: Neutrogena glycerin soap

Brush: Shavemac silvertip D01 3-band

Lather: Trufitt & Hill Grafton shave cream

Razor: Tatara Masamune

Blade: Personna med prep

Post: Ariana & Evans Emerald Moss splash

2nd shave with my new brush. Holy crap, this thing is great! Builds a rich, creamy lather in just seconds, and puts it on so smooth and soft. Highly recommended.

nowrongnotes,

Thanks!

Country music recommendations

What country music would you recommend to someone who wants to listen to some country that isn’t bro/truck country? I know not all country music is Like That but unfortunately at the moment that’s most of my experience with the genre and I want to broaden my horizons. Maybe some good gothic country or bluegrass suggestions?...

A 1930’s Remington mechanical typewriter. My dad used it regularly until he passed away, it still works perfectly and I’ve got a whole box of ribbons for it.

nowrongnotes,

I agree, the universe definitely came first.

nowrongnotes,

The truth is that using a backlit screen before bed will affect everyone differently. Try both and see which works better for you.

The expiration of pandemic-era public assistance measures fueled poverty increases in every state (www.epi.org)

Poverty in the U.S. is a choice directly reflecting federal, state, and local policies. The expansion of safety net programs in response to the pandemic-driven recession reduced poverty rates nationally in 2021 to below pre-pandemic levels. However, because policymakers ended many of these programs—including expanded...

nowrongnotes,

I didn’t read the article because the way the states are arranged in that graphic makes me FURIOUS

nowrongnotes,

Almost $600? No thanks, I’ll keep making my penis waffles the old-fashioned way.

nowrongnotes,

Yes. I’m in my mid 40’s, in the Midwest US. I drove manuals almost exclusively from when I was a teen until last year, when I bought an EV.

VT4J23 - Day 24 - A song, album, or artist with a number in it (beehaw.org)

Over in the vinyl sub at the Bad Place, u/Folk_nurse had been doing a Vinyl Tunes for June thing. When the blackout started, I kept adding to my own list each day, and I’d love to carry on with you all. Below is the calendar, I’ll start a thread each day....

nowrongnotes,

Lot of good ones already here. I'll add this only because I just finished playing this disc:

Has anyone here stopped drinking?

I stopped drinking on the 18th of March 2023. Because of where I live and how my culture socialises, this was a huge step. But to be honest, in hindsight it was just something I'd been putting off for a long time. The hangovers did just become a nightmare to deal with, plus I didn't feel like I was doing well with my personal...

nowrongnotes,

I've been sober since February 2018, after my dad passed away. My drinking had been increasing since my marriage ended a couple years before that, and I knew it was starting to get out of hand, but it took my dad's death to give me the motivation I needed to stop. He was a lifelong drinker, and I realized that's just not what I want for myself. Good luck to you on your journey, OP.

nowrongnotes,

Awesome, this takes me back in a great way. My parents had an old hi-fi phono in a beautiful wood cabinet, and they had some Esquivel records just for the purpose of showing off the stereo sound. Thanks for this!
