Here’s my buddy Cooper who has been coming every morning for 11 years to swim in the creek at Sawyer park (one of my parks that I clean). His owner, John, drove to Kentucky to rescue him when he was a puppy. John says Cooper is all good for the day after his swim. He just lies in the sun after that. He used to swim multiple times, but he's an old coot now. #dogsofmastodon

I talked to this old guy while i was cleaning the parks on Saturday morning. His dog’s name is Jackie. He asked if I was Irish and I said yeah, McNally. He got excited because he’s an orioles fan and Dave McNally was the lefty pitcher who threw a shut out against Los Angeles to win the World Series for Baltimore in 1966. I said no relation. He said he’s 80 and has a sister who is 82 with whom he spends every Saturday afternoon. Saturday they planned to watch the Kentucky Derby together. #people

Look at Bud Powell. Can you imagine just sitting around in an old T shirt and playing piano like Bud Powell? You’d almost think he’d have to be wearing something more extraordinary than a Tshirt to be able to play piano like that. I don’t know what. A cape and space helmet, maybe. #jazz

Things that happened today:

-- A rancid blanket of wildfire smoke descended on the entire Bay Area greeted me as I woke.

-- Spouse tested positive for Covid.

-- Discovered as I started to make my 9year old's lunch that the refrigerator was at room temperature. Spent the next few hours getting it fixed. Threw out a whole bunch of groceries purchased on Sunday.

-- School transportation delivered the 9 year old to the wrong place, causing a brief scare and requiring an unexpected trip across town.

-- Bus for said unexpected trip did not come. I walked back home a vehicle.

-- I know I'm leaving something but can't for the life of me remember what it is.
