I’d argue it’s better than a convection oven. I think it’s the placement of the fan and the higher air flow rate that differentiates the two.

My parents and SO’s parents have name-brand convection ovens but they’re no where as good as a dedicated air fryer. We’ve tried the same recipe (potato roasties) across them all and they achieve vastly different results.

Two things can be bad and you can discuss both of them. Let’s not lose our sights on something because something else is worse.

Why am I circumcised? (lemmy.one)

I stumbled across this recently while going down a different rabbit hole and it stunned me. I missed this previously. It leaves me wondering why I am circumcised. I am a bit bitter still and always about having the tip of my penis chopped off in the name of tradition, Now I see this and wonder what justification my parents could...

admit that in many cases a circumcision is the best route for your child’s penis healt

That’s just wrong. You realize people outside the US are mainly uncircumcised, right?

And phimosis isn’t that common though. In many cases, it can be resolved without circumcision. We don’t need to circumcise every male at birth because they have a small chance of phimosis needing circumcision later on.

Arguing that it should be removed at infancy because of phimosis is like arguing we should remove toenails because they can become ingrown.

Women do not get mastectomies unless it’s necessary. People aren’t getting them before they’re diagnosed.

Still getting the same thing, unfortunately

I eat oats just about every single day. The only time I’m not eating oats is around the holidays.

But I definitely don’t mind unflavored oats. Normally I eat them savory, but plain oats are fine I suppose.

My older brother got me into Ubuntu when I was around 12. He basically showed me the basics, like the terminal and a couple commands, then just told me to manpage or Google everything else.

Then I got Linux for the Wii and that really got me into the nitty gritties of Linux.

This video inspired me to try out the sensor reheat setting on my microwave today and it worked pretty well at reheating chili!

I don’t think it’s very useful at generating good code or answering anything about most libraries, but I’ve found it to be helpful answering specific JS/TS questions.

The MDN version is also pretty great too. I’ve never done a Firefox extension before and MDN Plus was surprisingly helpful at explaining the limitations on mobile. Only downside is it’s limited to 5 free prompts/day.

“is it a proper noun”: 🤷‍♂️

“are there multiple of this”: 👎

Gold Bar resident says clerk’s shirt is ‘crossing a line’ as some feel unsafe in grocery store (www.kiro7.com)

GOLD BAR, Wash. — In Snohomish County, some residents told KIRO 7 they feel unsafe going to their local grocery store. Over the weekend, controversial photos of a cashier at Gold Bar Family Grocer appeared on social media. The photos show a man with a KKK shirt and a loaded holster checking out customers....

Is there any way to reverse degrowth of the niche communities on Lemmy?

Like others, I came over when Reddit was banning 3rd party apps. Many communities were being started and I wanted to help. So I chose one community to form here and try and grow. And we did! There was a time a short while in the little KC Chiefs community was in the top 100 communities on Lemmy world. I knew that wouldn’t last...

Here’s some things Lemmy could potentially implement:

I think there’s an update with that but I’m not entirely sure.
