Thanks to all who attended my talk “Put a UUID On It!” at #PHPTek, especially to those who laughed at my jokes and got the Portlandia references—you’re the real heroes. 😉
The slides are linked to from Joind.in, and while you’re there, please rate the talk and provide feedback. Thanks!
Heading to bed early for an early wake-up time for my flight to Chicago for #PHPTek this week. This will be the first in-person conference I’ve spoken at since 2019. I’m feeling a little nervous, both of traveling and of speaking, but I’m feeling very good about the talks themselves. #PHP
@ramsey I fully switched to the other pharmacy for Vyvanse because the Walgreens I was originally having it filled was consistently having difficulty refilling my script. I just got fed up.
@Tylae That sounds horrible. You’d think they’d be able to predict their inventory, since they know how many customers regularly get it filled and when.
This week, I decided to set a Screen Time limit for myself, having all apps go into “limited” mode at 11pm. So far, this has gone very well, and I’ve stuck to it, though it really does shut down everything.
I was working in Keynote tonight on my presentations for next week’s #PHPTek, when it kicked in tonight. 🤣
@cwebber A while back, I think you shared a link to a long post or some notes you had written about problems with ActivityPub and ideas for fixing them. Am I remembering correctly? If so, do you mind sharing that link again? I can’t seem to find it on your blog.
Problem: I have two DB tables, and I’m trying to select from the first table for records that do not exist in the second table. Over time, as I process each record, I’ll write to the 2nd table, and then those records will be excluded on subsequent queries.
Pretty standard stuff. The queries are easy to write, and there are several ways to write them (e.g. left join where is null, where not in subquery, where not exists subquery).
@ramsey So you rerun the exclude SQL query on each round? Sounds not very optimal to use SQL here.
You could extend t1 with a flag column, run on each created row of t2 immediately an update of the flag on all affected rows of t1 and then you will not need to join, as you can exclude all rows with the flags immediately.
#PHPTek just opened up the ability to get virtual passes to next week’s conference, so if you can’t make it in-person, you can still watch the sessions.
You can get your virtual pass and watch the live stream of the conference at https://phptek.tv
Tickets for the in-person event are still on sale, too. I hope to see you there! https://tek.phparch.com
This photo popped up in my “featured photos” today.
Taken at #PHPTek 2017 in Atlanta, that’s Sammy, Amanda, @joepferguson, @eric, and @john seated on stage, with @matthewtrask looming behind them on a large projection screen.
I’m pretty sure I was being a jerk in the audience that night.
