Today has once again proven that security is a multi-layer effort. Only hardening the outer limits/boundaries of a system is NEVER sufficient. People and companies now rushing to have xz downgraded, should (and with should I mean MUST) learn about Defence in Depth. Even people in the middle ages knew about that!

A simple 10-minute fix to reduce
the CVSS score of 10 to a CVSS score somewhere around 4'ish, is to expose sshd (and thus xz) through a VPN (e.g. wireguard). It's as easy as that, and you successfully deployed another layer of defence in front. Effectively mitigating a RCE. xz is still vulnerable, yet you could sleep a lot better and enjoy your easter weekend more.

What's the typical tolerance for solar panel power ratings? If a module is rated 465Wp, would you expect it to exceed that value significantly if you check your inverter's measured peak power output and divide by the number of modules? 🤔

@xahteiwi No. Wp stands for Wattpeak (meaning peak power) that it can deliver. It'll not exceed that value at all in the real world.

In real-world application it's very seldom that you reach the actual Wp rating of your module. Going 20% over the inverter rating with the Wp of you panels is not untypical when designing a PV system.

If your Docker-in-Docker build involving lots of npm installs barfs with "Client network socket disconnected before secure TLS connection was established", then your Dockerfile needs "RUN npm config set maxsockets 1" because of course it does.

This is clearly the future.

Been trying to ramp up my synthesis skills lately. Here's a small portfolio of elements I've created with simple subtractive synthesis (mostly ) and FM synthesis (). I'm most proud of the guitar. It's by far not perfect, but took me 2hrs to create it. And I learned a lot in the progress :3 Let me know what you think.

Spiele selbst nämlich auch schon länger mit dem Gedanken einen kleinen RiscV-Experimentier-SBC anzuschaffen.
