Does anyone who records vocal audio have any thoughts on why my waveform amplitude seems so small on the recording software?
I’m having to turn the interface gain to almost max just to capture even that.
The presets I’m using in Audacity are in line with tutorials I’ve seen, so it’s not that.
And I know it’s not which USB port the interface is connected to on my laptop. But aside from that, maybe the mic itself (a Shure SM-58)? Maybe the cabling or a connection somewhere?
@thebishopgame So yeah, definitely more sensitive with the driver installed, but I’m still having to put the gain up around half way to get it into a decent playback volume.
And for what it’s worth, even with gain maxed out and the volume too high, the wave pattern amplitude on the visual is still really small compared to what I’ve seen in every tutorial video, with them just talking casually. 🤔
@apLundell Oh, for sure. I’m a slow walker. But I should’ve twigged in earlier to the fact that I’m not THAT slow, and realized I made a manual error somewhere.
Like, yeah, I can walk 8 city blocks in about ten minutes. 🙄
Next VPN question: Does anyone a) access Masto with a VPN running, and b) do you use the Tooot app to (try to) do so?
I’m putting a VPN through some tests and it seems to do well overall but I couldn’t load anything on Tooot from any timelines.
The second I turned off the VPN, my timelines loaded. But I’m not yet clear on if that was an app issue or if somehow Masto itself (or at least the .social instance) doesn’t jibe well with VPNs.
