Incredible day for radicalizing well-intentioned but naive “default”-mode young liberals.

I had an old college buddy kinda explode on me about this when he asked my why I still use an older phone and I told him because it does everything I need from a phone. The specific brainworms were something along the lines of asking me if I thought it made me look bad which I just kinda laughed at and said why would I feel that way or care about people who do?

He kinda really fell down the neoliberal rabbit hole (his role, degree, and money will do that) and I think it just kinda drives him insane that other people don’t measure “worth” the same way he does. He also seems to really struggle to connect with a lot of us because fortunately most of us haven’t tied our self worth to our financial status and didn’t make our personalities consumption.

It’s really sad/a shame.

The wildest thing about this is that these (usually affluent) people could quite literally throw $10 at the site, keep their adblock on, and then probably have donated more directly than the ad-platform EVER would have generated off of them.

If you/the kids are playing vanilla look into Geyser as it allows Bedrock and Java players to play on the same server.

@riseuppikmin@hexbear.net avatar

I haven’t used it since the 1.16.5 days but it worked perfectly fine for vanilla back then and I’m sure it probably does now too.

If you have more questions after you read a bit more about it feel free to drop them here.

Continuing my research, how do these "pirates" get the files for nintendo switch games?

In my search for knowledge about piracy and the dastardly fellows who partake in it, I came across an issue. How do these pirates attain nintendo switch games? i can’t seem to understand. may anyone who is well versed in this topic provide some knowledge? much appreciated.

If it’s early release it’s a warehouse leak most likely that then gets dumped from a modded console (xci format). Some users convert xci to nsp for reasons unknown to me. Might be that switch cartridges have extra padding at the beginning/end that can be stripped to reduce file size.

Otherwise it’s just a standard dump from a modded console in either eShop (nsp) or physical (xci) format

As someone who used to write extensive notes in the margins of books digital notetaking has forever replaced physical books for me.

E-ink all the way

qBitTorrent or Transmission would be my recommendation with probably pushing for most users to use qbit as it’s become the standard and has the most developer eyes on it

I can’t wait for the liberals to realize this means they get no more federal judiciary appointments until the next term and proceed to do nothing about it and continue to tell me they have a functioning democracy.

Dianne Feinstein is doing exactly what the Grim Reaper wanted her to do.

riseuppikmin,
@riseuppikmin@hexbear.net avatar

Newsom can appoint a replacement (who will be a senator) but through the filibuster the GOP control who can be appointed to the judiciary committee (which Feinstein was on) as a replacement and they said pre-death they won’t seat a new appointment to that committee to stall all appointments.

    A couple of options worth knowing about since I don’t know/own the games:

    1. A DRM free version looks like it’s available at GOG. This is probably the simplest solution to not have to worry about any potential issues
    2. People seem to be reporting that the Steam version can be launched directly from the executable bypassing the launcher. If there is a Steamworks DRM check you could always use Goldberg’s steam emulator to get around that for fully offline play.

    What are some indirect "tells" that you've picked up that tell you that someone (offline especially) is politically sus amogus?

    For me the easiest tell is the up front, unprompted, and unsolicited declaration of nonpoliticalness. When someone takes the time and expends the breath to announce how nonpolitical they are, what follows is almost always a rant about how everything/everyone else is too political these days, and that of course leads into...

    This one is going to be US-centric, but if they’re vocal about how they only care about college sports specifically and aren’t a fan of pro sports there’s a substantial chance they’re a horrible reactionary and probably worse than your average chud.

    I’m interested to see how the effects of things like the NIL in college sports (players are now legally getting paid through boosters of colleges as a short summary) will impact these people’s fandom (if at all) in the future. This is interesting as their “defense” has always been about how it’s been a more “pure” form of the game without players getting paid which I’m fairly certain is just thinly-veiled racism.

    What's the deal with Hexbear?

    Has anyone else noticed how prevalent Hexbear posters have suddenly become? Maybe sometime last week I noticed nearly every political post had at least one long thread of Hexbear users that do nothing but repeat CCP talking points while waving anyway anything even remotely reliable as Western propaganda. That or getting all...

    “Let’s talk about the current genocide the CCP is carrying out”

    “Here’s a source from western-aligned organizations disputing this”

    “I’m not reading this”

    Some things that would make me consider it:

    • Free high quality lunches every day
    • Transportation compensation in the form of both work time (if the office is poorly located) and monetary compensation for transportation expenses
    • Management improvement plan with actions they’re taking/implementing to reduce the time they’re wasting of laborers on a day-to-day basis
    • Alteration of the company structure to force a large percentage (simple majority) of ownership to workers to push back against reactionary and profit-driven anti-labor whims of shareholders
    • Services/compensation that complete tasks that previously I could do during downtime at home
    • Yearly inflation-pegged CoL raises that apply to every laborer in the company before salary raises are made
    • Massive investment in in-office employee training programs in the form of role-based training that is chosen by laborers in that particular role/function

    If every single one of these things were implemented I would then still probably leave the place for another WFH job if we didn’t use our new ownership powers to revert back to WFH immediately.

    @riseuppikmin@hexbear.net avatar

    I say at the end that we’d probably immediately use those powers to revert back to better working conditions (WFH).

    I can’t see any scenario where this doesn’t happen immediately and was mostly just riffing at the absurdity of thinking companies would implement these things (outside of maybe free lunches) in order to empower labor (to the company’s shareholders’ detriment) willingly.
