The aid convoy attacked by Israeli nationalist fanatics was escorted by Israeli soldiers. They did nothing to stop the attack.

@rms I am so often stunned at this time by what people can do to people. Even individual groups of apes who know something like war are not so brutal and despising of life.

As Europe's power shrinks, its fear is growing - and the result is huge mistakes. I have strongly criticized the EU for giving power to banksters instead of to the people.

Not like the US who gives the power to big corporations? Those are not people either, Richard.

It looks like the UK will weaken is greenhouse gas targets to "make them easier to meet." https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/11/uk-carbon-targets-carryover-budget-climate-change-committee

That is absurd — like reducing the treatment for cancer to make it easier to take. That's what you get in a hospice. Is this hospice care for Planet Earth?

[01/02] A review of the danger of antibiotic resistance: https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/article/2024/may/13/what-is-antimicrobial-resistance-and-how-big-a-problem-is-it-antibiotics

I've posted over the years about the need to stop farmers from giving antibiotics to entire herds in bulk. https://stallman.org/archives/2005-jul-oct.html#09%20October%202005(Drug-resistant%20E%20Coli)

We must restrict them to giving antibiotics specifically to animals that are sick.

rms,
@rms@mastodon.xyz avatar

[02/02] As for the lack of new antibiotics, we should take this entirely out of the hands of drug companies and create an international organization for the job. We should give it funds to develop last-ditch antibiotics, and to make doses for the whole world — prohibit the use of those antibiotics except in animals that are entitled to human rights.

[01/02] US courts have given cops immunity for any destruction of property that they cause in the course of their activity. https://reason.com/2024/05/10/a-swat-team-blew-up-this-innocent-couples-home-and-left-them-with-the-bill-was-that-constitutional/

I agree that the government should compensate those whose property government agents destroy except pursuant to a court order to do so.

[01/03] Israel is fighting resurgent HAMAS in northern Gaza again. https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/12/fierce-battles-in-gaza-as-israeli-forces-attack-hamas-militants

As I've noted many times, it is impossible to defeat an underground guerrilla movement that has the popular support to recruit new members. HAMAS has that support.

Israel should recognize this and end the useless and deadly attempt to do the impossible. HAMAS is an evil group of terrorists, but there is no use in futile efforts to eradicate it, and the effort is no excuse for killing thousands...

By UN definitions HAMAS are freedom fighters fighting for the restoration of their lands.
