rockandsock,

I want Rick Bayless to make me a plate of beautiful Mexican food and sit and eat with me and tell what it was influenced by.

Or I want Eddie Huang to make either American or Thai food that was spicy and full of flavor while we discussed 90s-00s hip hop.

Based on Huangs World Eddie would just be a lot of laughs to spend time with for an evening.

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

rockandsock,

I don’t think that we currently know enough about physics to say for sure that faster than light travel is impossible.

I think it’s likely that there are still scientific breakthroughs to be discovered that will make currently impossible things possible.

Question for those who have read them: is the whole *The Expanse* series good?

I’ve read the first two books and enjoyed them both. I enjoyed the TV series. But I see there are nine novels and eight novellas in the series, and I know the book series goes on longer than the TV series. I’m curious: is the quality fairly consistent or, like a lot of longer book series, does it degrade over time?...

rockandsock,

I agree with the person who said there was a lot of personal drama as filler that didn’t add to the story and dragged the pace of the books down.

I thought the books are mostly OK but I kind of lost interest after book 6 and it’ll probably be quite a while before I go back to finish the last few books if I ever do.

rockandsock,

I support people’s rights to make it but have very little interest in reading/watching most of it.

rockandsock,

It’s not outstanding but it is well crafted.

Iconic action scenes, memorable, quotable dialog and one liners. Great charismatic actors playing the hero and the main villian. Good actors playing supporting characters.
Decent coherent easy to follow story.

Lots of action movies from that era don’t score highly on at least a few of those points and have been mostly forgotten.

rockandsock,

I haven’t bothered to watch it again since the 90s.

I agree with you.

I’ll watch most of the Schwarzenegger movies from this era ahead of this.

rockandsock,

The Star Wars movies are kids movies. If you can’t view them through that lens of being 9 years old again you’re not really going to enjoy them.

I still watch all of them in the theater when they come out but I channel my grade school self when I watch them.

rockandsock,

No, I don’t think that I will.

rockandsock,

I tried to watch it a few times as a teenager when it was still kind of new and still never made it past the first 30-40 minutes.

Is 15 told old to really appreciate it?

rockandsock,

That’s my favorite TNG movie.

Roddy McDowell carried the movie. You sympathize with him just a bit and want the heroes to stop his character at the same time.

rockandsock,

I assume this dude is some kind of extreme minimalist or something. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

rockandsock,

The term has been around at least since the mid 90s.
