Heute habe ich von Docker Desktop genug gehabt. Auf dem Mac immer bei 100-400% CPU nach ein paar Stunden Betrieb.

Habs dann mal mit probiert; Migration ging viel schmerzloser als befürchtet.

Die Ausführung meiner container ist locker 2-3x so schnell jetzt, es ist ein Riesenunterschied. Unit-Test in 0,04sec statt vorher 2-3sec. Hätte ich nicht erwartet.

CPU Last bei "idle" jetzt so bei 15-20% statt den dauer-100 von vorher. Hoffe das bleibt so :)

@supergarv Interessant… bei mir läuft docker auf ARM echt fluffig. Aber Luft nach oben ist bestimmt auch noch.

Da möchte man sich mal selbst ein Bild über AI/LLMs zum Programmieren machen, durchforstet das Internet und an keiner Stelle habe ich das Gefühl, dass da jemand begeistert von ist. Nicht von Copilot, ChatGPT und auch Techniken wie Ollama, die ich ja präferieren würde, weil sie einfach lokal ausgeführt werden und meine Daten bei mir bleiben würden.
Eigentlich wollte ich den Kram heute mal ausprobieren, aber ich glaube ich schenke mir die Zeit…

@KaffDaddy Insbesondere für Qualitätssicherung fände ich es spannend, aber der Fokus scheint aktuell eher auf „glorified StackOverflow Copy&Paste in der IDE“ zu liegen. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Und du bekommst es solange noch selbst hin, bis die Suchfunktionen dieser Welt AI-fiziert werden oder die Leute aufhören, selbst Doku zu schreiben. Davor habe ich am meisten Angst.

Vielleicht bin ich auch schon ein alter weißer grumpy Mann.

This was a great TYPO3 camp in Zurich! Yet another part of the community I haven‘t met before, and in hindsight it was overdue. I‘m already thinking about coming back next year.

The first day at TYPO3 Camp Schweiz was a lot of fun. It was the perfect combination of insightful barcamp sessions, a delicious social event menu (see pic) and interesting conversations with fellow TYPO3 people. Looking forward to the second day! 👍🏼

Hab das Gefühl, dass Dienste einfach anfangen Newsletter zu verschicken, so als wenn ich neuerdings zugestimmt hätte. Neuestes Beispiel: Stattys. Vor 8 Jahren mal was da bestellt, nun seit einigen Wochen auf deren Newsletter-Liste. Aber geht auch so mit anderen Anbietern.

Habt ihr ähnliche Erfahrungen?

Does anyone working in Germany as a normal employee take a little cash on the side (legally) for stuff like giving talks, reviewing books, writing articles or other comparable stuff?

I'm happy in my job and want to keep it, but some little opportunities may come up where I could earn something, currently I'm opting out or doing it for free because of the whole tax thing.

I'm trying to figure out whether I can do a Nebenjob freiberuflich, or something. The whole system terrifies me, haha! Help?

@sarajw @julian I think this topic (freiberuflich vs gewerblich) is one of the more difficult ones because there is a lot of grey area and „opinions“. From a tax perspective however, the distinction is only relevant if you go over a threshold (I think it‘s 22500/year, then you need to pay Gewerbesteuer in addition to the Einkommensteuer). But if you expect this to grow, it‘s probably best to get this fixed in the beginning and to know where the border is you should not cross. 😬

@sarajw @julian But you probably didn‘t pay any extra taxes (apart from Einkommensteuer), did you? I think that‘s just a formality and becomes relevant once it‘s much more money.

As you need to specify some kind of description for your business, I don‘t think it makes sense to reactivate the old one. Either try for „freiberuflich“ or start a new Gewerbe. At least that‘s what I would do.

Uiuiuiuiui, ich sehe mich schon, dass ich in ferner Zukunft git über die Shell verwende bzw. über neovim. Was aber erstmal bedeutet, dass ich meine git-Konfiguration gerade ziehen muss. Ich verwende je nach Kontext andere E-Mail-Adressen, Namen, Signaturen usw. Das wird ein Spaß!w
