Reflective LCD projection TV optics teardown (i.imgur.com)

Awesome innards of this reflective LCD system. Light from the main bulb comes in bottom, is diffused and split two ways by a double beam splitter, filtered, polarized, split again on left branch, producing 3 uniform channels of vivid red, green, and blue light. Each channel enters a prism, reflecting off an HD LCD element bonded...

sixfold,

One reason this happens if you made your account on a small instance is that your instance just isn’t federating with very many communities. If you’re the first from your instance to subscribe to a community, try this: Use an explorer like lemmyverse.net to find new communities, copy the url into your home instance’s search field, and it should appear in the results after a few seconds or a refresh. Click the search result and subscribe from there. From then on, that instance will populate everyone’s ‘All’ tab on your home instance with posts from that community, and ‘Subscribed’ if you remain subscribed

lets see you make a post then

sixfold,

Oh that’s hilarious. I’d love to see it

sixfold,

I mean, since we’re all here, PeerTube is federated with Lemmy! There are limited numbers of creators on PeerTube right now, but maybe if we can link more videos from there on lemmy and upload some ourselves, we can get the platform into a healthy state. Not that there is nothing there, there is a decent amount uploaded already.

sixfold,

Might as well go Youtube to PeerTube

sixfold,

It’s a really good point. It’s both the algo and the creators the keep us there.

sixfold,

Discoverability is something youtube’s alogrithm really gets right, and something lemmy, or the fediverse in general, just sucks at right now.

sixfold,

I made it! It tastes incredible for how easy it was to make. Cheap too. Highly recommended. https://i.imgur.com/zGobKTu.jpg

sixfold,

There is one more step once you found an community you’d like to subscribe to. Take the link to the community (something like lemmy.fmhy.ml/c/freemediaheckyeah ) and copy it into your home instance’s (the one you’ve made an account on) search page. for me it looks like this:

Sometimes, it will say “No Results.” Just wait a view seconds, and maybe try to refresh. The server it mostly likely retrieving some posts and comments for the first time. Eventually, it will show up, click the result, and you’ll be directed to something like lemmy.sdf.org/c/freemediaheckyeah@lemmy.fmhy.ml (with your home instance’s domain in place of mine) and you can subscribe from there.
