Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....
Also they were updated to the version that didn’t have that “all the posts in a sub suddenly show up and push what you were looking at down off your screen” bug
So I’ve been running Windows on my gaming system and Linux on my laptop for Uni for a while. I chose this to discourage working instead of relaxing, or gaming instead of working. However, I am finding that I often get the opportunity to work from home and I find it easier to just use my laptop on the go (I have a dual monitor...
+1 for pop os. Didn’t take much to get the programs I needed to work (davinci resolve needed a little help recognizing the graphics cards on my laptop and desktop which are Nvidia and AMD respectively), and every game I’ve tried on steam has run just fine (except vermintide 2, but that’s a proton issue).
Ended up installing it on my surface go 2 as well, because the default desktop environment (gnome) works well with touchscreens, though I had to switch to Wayland to get smoother scrolling.
I wanna buy an ebook reader but i don’t want any amazon or other companies shit in there, just something i can connect to my pc, pass ebooks in different formats into it and read.
Dude for real!! 30 bucks and does everything I really want a smartwatch to do, without all the telemetry siphoning! Plus that “Terminal” watch face is chef’s kiss. (zephyrlabs.github.io/Watchfaces/Terminal/)
I had a dumb phone until around 2011 and I really miss not staring at my phone all of the time. The only thing that gives me pause is my family sending links via text. I’ve tried other ways to limit screen time but if it’s there I’m gonna use it.
I tried but hated navigating with the mobile version of Google maps, so I’m splitting the difference and getting a CAT S22. Flip phone with Android go, hoping it’s everything I need.
Once again I messed the pill count and didn’t renew my prescription in time sol I’ll be riding this coming week dry… thanks stupid US medical system....
My lofi isn’t cutting it today, but my podcast is pulling too much of my attention so I can’t think on my work. I need that sweet spot of interesting enough to quiet my mind but boring enough that I can ignore it and think on my work. Gonna look for a history documentary on Carthage or smth
I know there was some project about this but haven’t heard of anything for a while. Ewaste is such a crime; all of my devices are used or older purchases that are past their “cool by” date. I have an iPad 2 and iPad mini that function perfectly but aren’t supported by apple anymore. Would love to get a second life for...
So if you consider that different notes of music are different frequencies of sound, each radio frequency “hopped to” would be a different note on a piano being played on either end of the signal.
From Wikipedia: “Antheil and Lamarr developed the idea of using frequency hopping: in this case using a player piano roll to randomly change the signal sent between the control center and torpedo at short bursts within a range of 88 frequencies on the spectrum (88 black and white keys are on a piano keyboard). The specific code for the sequence of frequencies would be held identically by the controlling ship and in the torpedo. This basically encrypted the signal, as it was impossible for the enemy to scan and jam all 88 frequencies because this would have required too much power. Antheil would control the frequency-hopping sequence using a player-piano mechanism, which he had earlier used to score his Ballet Mécanique.”
I have had a Logitech G903 for almost 3 years now, and it worked great under Linux. It had smooth scroll properly working with solaar and I could remap/deactivate buttons with piper....
I played with this one for a bit, and it seems similar to Flexcil. You can handwrite on it, put stickers, but it also syncs with things like google calendar if you wanted that. Also its phone format is well thought out. It costs 35/year, but I think they have a trial period. app.artfulagenda.com
Mine is this cheeseburger quesadilla with cherry hots. I used to force myself to always eat different things and vegetables etc etc but it’s been really nice this past year to give myself permission to let go of some of that and let myself off the hook to eat what I want without judgment
