Interested in electronics, communications and engineering as a whole really. I have a full amateur radio licence with call sign M0SUD. Based in the UK. Also a sumo fan.

I host a show called FLUX on aNONradio, SDF's internet radio station. It is on Thursdays at 2000 UTC. Expect genre hopping fun with some psych, indie, rock, cumbia, dub, molam, shouty east midlanders and just about anything which takes my fancy.

Just had a fair bit of fun recording next Thursday's FLUX. It is annoying to find time but the fun of finding and sharing music with others is well worth it.

You too can experience this fun through open mic on aNONradio, where people can connect to the icecast server and share some music. You don't even have to talk. If that floats your boat then you can find a slot which works for you and ask to become a DJ.

Open mic is 3-6 am and 6-7 pm UTC every day.

Look what arrived today. Going to stick NetBSD on the CL1000. The SL5500 has issues with the terminal part. Shall have to muck around and see what happens.

I'd like to have a 2nd laptop, something a little bit like the Apple MacBook Air 11", but with something like a Risc V or ARM64 for ultra-long battery life.

Essentially something to run vim or emacs, to send email and commit code back to the house server, provided it has a (reasonably) good keyboard. Something I can throw in the backpack without adding 6Kg.

Macbook Air are there but horribly expensive and no Linux.

@ParadeGrotesque Starlabs have some great linux first options. I have a starlite v4 which is a conventional laptop compared to the v5 which is a tablet affair. I have not tried any BSDs with these. There is also the starbook, a 14 inch affair which is still a laptop. Fair bit more for that one.

@ParadeGrotesque There is possibly the Libreboot supporting https://minifree.org/ to consider as well. All refurbs but might not quite get what you want with the size aspect.

Today is the final time for 6 months where FLUX will go out at 2000UTC while I can listen in at 2000 local time. Clocks spring forward from GMT to BST this weekend. The joys of living in GMT/BST land. No hard conversions for aNONradio show times for this guy but I still struggle with the hour difference from time to time. 2000UTC is some 1 hour 45 minutes from posting.

Sick. Slept 6 hours last night, between bouts of coughing. Woke up and my eyes were so full of gunk it took me a couple minutes to clean them to the point I could finally open them.

Slept 5 more hours on the sofa this morning.

Going back to the sofa in a few minutes. Appointment with doctor tomorrow.

@ParadeGrotesque Of course! The question is what you add to the arena to make the fight interesting. Flood the arena for some naval shenanigans? Throw wild beasts into the fray? Crew the ships with wild beasts and add some flame throwers? I am sure the project managers will happily take part in any nonsense for your lead architecting skills and most importantly, ability to deliver without their having to do too much complaining.

There are lots of ways of grabbing moments of joy through out the day. Sometimes I find a quiet corner and have a little dance.

Sometimes I just tune into FLUX on days like today at 2000 UTC on aNONradio. That is some 2 and a half hours away.
