I am always amazed by human creativity.

  • Create a religion, & you will end with 200 competing offshoots in 10 years.

  • Create a Linux distribution, & you will have 20 competing versions in 10 years.

  • Discover something new & interesting in science today, & you will probably end up with hundreds of PhD thesis a few years later.

  • Create a beautiful piece of art, and you will soon have hundreds of remixes, parodies, mashups, etc...

This is life itself. Things never stay static.

Nope, your Linux version is not better than mine, except perhaps in very narrow cases.

Your scientific discovery probably does not negate hundreds of years of research. It can happen, but Einstein's relativity did not erase Newton's gravity.

And don't get me started on religion, please.

Christianity in the USA will either destroy itself (and the interaction you mention in your post is definitely one step in that direction) or it will destroy the country.

Or, as I have heard elsewhere: "American Christianity is 500 miles wide, but only 2 inches deep".

By 'depth' I meant history, meaning and nuance. Qualities that seem strangely absent from your 'folk religion'.

I also suspect that 'folk religion' really means 'fascist religion', in the sense that it worships strength and scapegoats minorities, much like Catholicism in Germany signed a pact with the Nazis.

All in all, I am afraid I do not see the depth you mention.

My apologies for using "your" folk religion - I should have used "the folk religion you mention" (or some variation).

I agree there is some history to this folk religion, but I am afraid that does give it any real 'spiritual' depth. If anything, it is striking to see how narrow, closed-minded it appears over the centuries.

Macron, cet absolu crétin, espère toujours jouer un rôle de négociateur entre la Russie et l'Ukraine.

Mais, fondamentalement, c'est parce que la Russie est bourrée de fric et de ressources naturelles. Les affaires avant tout, Total, Areva, etc... Toutes ces boîtes (les vrais patrons du Président) ont des intérêts en Russie et aimeraient bien que les affaires reprennent.

Ce type partira du pouvoir ridiculisé dans tous les domaines.

The people are not protesting "for" Hamas, they are protesting against what Israel is doing right now.

And what Israel is doing right now is killing people en masse, including people who were against Hamas.

There is an important distinction here, and one I suspect you do not understand.

What Hamas did was murder and terrorism. What Israel is doing is more of the same.
