technomad,

This seems pretty awesome, I may just have to give it a go. I never had a chance to play through MM back in the day.

technomad,

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve definitely been keeping an eye on Keychron, everyone seems to have excellent impressions of them.

technomad,

The Nuphy’s do seem a little more my speed for style and feel. I like the practical implementations of rgb on those new models you linked to. They’re not much more expensive either.

I wonder why that is. Almost none of the low profile options have rotary encoders. I don’t think a column staggered design would be a good fit for me right now, though I’m sure they’re nice. I may just have to compromise on the encoder, or the low profile. I feel like the low profile might be less important to me.

technomad,

I hadn’t really considered this, but I think I would want the entire thing to be low profile if I went that route. Not that it wouldn’t work great or anything, but it seems like it might be odd to have low prof. caps on a full thickness board? Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

As it currently stands, I’m considering giving up the volume knob because there doesn’t seem to be any models that fit all of my requirements. Currently leaning towards the Nuphy brand

technomad,

I didn’t mention it in the description, but I think in my head I was definitely imagining a TKL form factor. Thinking about it though, I probably wouldn’t mind the extra width too much. I think I could manage just fine with it, and the numberpad would be better than the one that’s on my laptop currently (it’s got a single-width zero key instead of double width that I’m used to…)

Yeah, I definitely found their website to be a bit overwhelming. Lol.

Thanks for finding that one for me, it’s going on the list for when I’m ready to pull the trigger.

Welcome!

Would Lemmy Benefit from Implementing Polls? (slrpnk.net)

A popular way of dealing with discussions, and familiar to most people, I assume. As far as I see it, adding a poll system to Lemmy is a good way to enhance user engagement. I’m not really aware if this has been a topic before or not, tried looking it up but didn’t see much juice on the topic, so thought I’d spark it up....

technomad,

It worked! Thank you!!

I guess it was just the syntax error on my part or something. The first time I had tried just directly copy/paste the command. I don’t know why that didn’t work. When I did it the second time I typed everything in directly, and no problems.

technomad,

Any specifics? Now I’m wondering what other Q.O.L. improvements I should be making. Lol

technomad,

I could see showing the full path in the file browser being helpful. I do like it that there’s a ‘open in terminal’ option in the 3-dot menu on pop_os. I’ve used it a few times already; I’m still learning how to change directories…

The hidden scroll bars is a feature I feel like I’ve just become desensitized to over time. It’s been such common theme for so long now… Lol

Unrelated, but one thing I’ve been wondering about is if there’s a reason why copy and paste functionality is not the same in the terminal as it is in the regular operating system. I feel like having this functionality be the same would be helpful for not having to type everything in directly all the time.

technomad,

I misread this as ‘no other world is possible’ which I still like.

We should improve this world.

technomad,

That’s a good point. If it’s that outdated, I’m probably better off just using something else.

Thanks for the reply

technomad,

That was a neat timelapse. I wonder how long that took, and what caused them to decide to remove it?

technomad,

train the ducks to chase after the enemies. Lol

Will a virtual machine work for this?

Newbie here. First of all, I successfully took ownership of a folder using the command line and I am proud of that. Even though it ended up being irrelevant for the problem in the end, it was still satisfying to be able to figure it out finally. Using the command line makes me feel like I’m doing cool stuff B)...

technomad,

is your microsoft mouse you mentioned wired or wireless?

I’m having some issues getting it to work with wireless, haven’t tried doing it wired yet.

technomad,

No worries, I’m just wondering if there’s a workaround for my controller actually. I don’t know what the issue is, it seems like the software allows me to remap one of the button inputs how I’m wanting to but when I start a game the controller is no longer recognized when I have the remapping software running for it.

I may just make a separate post about it.
