Going through the DOS archive at Archive.org, searching for bits and bytes for my PPC640. Was setting some filters to limit the number of results, when...
Anything we need to know about the REAL founding date of Microsoft and the origins of DOS? @shanselman@JenMsft
Upgraded my phone to S24 Ultra - and was going to try Microsoft Hyperlapse Mobile which I had on my Note9 - but it says "Not compatible". Anyone care to give the author a friendly nudge-nudge wink-wink wiggle-wiggle ? @shanselman
I'm setting up my son's belated Yule-gift, a desktop PC. And one of the things he's learning at age 8 in school is video making and stop motion. So, I install a stop motion studio and then I wanted to install a video editor - and obviously, as I have M365, I chose ClipChamp.
Well deleted! This is my error. "Clipchamp is not available to you due to age restrictions in your country or area"
@shanselman@JenMsft - who can I pester to know why there's an age restriction on a video editor?
@thor It is all probablistic, and to make matters more complicated it is nondeterminsistic ... not real intelligence in the way we might think about it. But it can be a helpful tool in some circumstances 😉
@geerlingguy I'd like to ask you - I remember seeing you testing the Ampere platform. Do you know if there's anywhere a scientist can get access to an Ampere machine runnig CentOS or SLES to test the viability of using it for WRF? Would probably need access for some days at least...
@thor if you contact Ampere, maybe they could make it happen? Otherwise, Oracle cloud offers a free tier with access to some Ampere resources (not a full machine but a slice of one).
I really want to know what HP uses to solder their hardware because when I decommission something I like to desolder the paert to keep abd reuse , but even with a broad tip at 520°C I simply cannot for the life of me desolder a single part from the HP XL170Rgen9 Like WTF?
@thor the lifting flux is particularly good. very aggressive, hence why it needs cleaning. I got some for doing BGA reballing jobs but more frequently end up using it on stubborn TH connectors with really old solder.
