In any reasonable programming language, this would be perfectly fine. [...] Unfortunately, this is Rust we're dealing with. 😅

It's been a difficult 15 months dealing with severe family illnesses. Slowly coming out of it, and had to go 7 months without climbing (the longest in the past decade sans when I blew out my ankles in South Africa). Was lovely to be back in France and make progress on projects.

@heidykhlaaf I'm sorry to hear how difficult everything has been. Am glad that you are having some fun!

This one's quite a good watch if you would like to see some intermediate Rust, especially the first 10 minutes https://youtu.be/TFJaJjWOcr4

    Question for NZ tech folk: what would your advice be to Waka Kotahi to make phishing of their services less likely?

    @francoismassot Yes! That'll take me more than 30s to explain though 😅

    PSA mushrooms are neither plants, nor animals. They are some secret third thing.

    timClicks,
    @timClicks@mastodon.nz avatar

    @achim Actually probably too many 😅

    Mycology is fascinating. Mushrooms use oxygen and carbohydrates for energy, like animals. Unlike plants, they don't require light. Mushrooms are also only a small part of the whole organism. The majority of the body is called mycelium, which uses enzymes to digest organic matter.

    @judysutherland Out of interest, which spices do you consider essential vs just nice to have?

    @han_dall It does feel a bit like if a relative tried to create a social network.

    @timClicks@mastodon.nz avatar

    @han_dall No, in MySpace you could write your own HTML. This is mostly just what a small team without a design-led practice builds

    Y'all remember Yahoo! Pipes?

    I feel like they were far ahead of their time with that one. Such a brilliant service.

    @malware I do! They had some excellent tools for developers, including custom search engines that were quite easy to subscribe to.
