Took a pretty heavy call from a friend this afternoon that is going through a rough time. She had an altercation with some friends in our group which I think set her off into a spiral. I had no idea about any of this. It takes a lot of courage to reach out to someone.

I used to get affected by the same friends too, but then learned to stop putting disappointing people on a pedestal, thinking they do the same, and rely on them for emotional support and wellbeing which was always one way. I made some new friends. I discovered that healthy adult friendships actually exist and instead of being upset about certain behaviours from those people, I learned to pity that behaviour. I hope she learns this too.

I may or may not have not trespassed on private property (without realising) to get this shot, but the view was so nice

Israel is currently second behind Croatia in the odds. They didn’t just get through, they may take out the whole thing. The drama of that win… but I think Croatia’s got it.

What? Being a reference is a one phone call job. What an ass.

Finland’s song is pretty memorable too, I’ve only seen semi final 1. Ireland was good. But Croatia is the strong favourite.

Where does one go to see it? Do you just have to go somewhere with no light pollution?

Edit - and it can’t be cloudy too, duh

If it’s two days a week out of five, it’s do-able but that’s still a massive loss of free time. Is this travelling by PT? Can you start work on PT in order to spend less time at the office?

Taken from my backyard using iPhone 3 second exposure. Can’t really see it to the naked eye but insane on camera.

Love paying for the mistakes of other trades, happened to me recently.

Watching videos with the phone speaker on loud gets me every time.

People who send each sentence of their message

In seperate text messages

Instead of compiling all thoughts into one text

So you receive a bunch of texts and notifications at once

Annoying or acceptable?

I’ve previously looked into traveling to Tijuana, which is in the Baja California region. You’d think a big city right on the border of the US is safe but most reddit posts on the issue were saying don’t stay in the city after dark, travel to tourist areas only, so many precautions to take. Alert to the potential of violent crime is probably where I draw the line on travelling somewhere. If the likely worst thing that’s going to happen to me is being pickpocketed or my phone snatched out of my hand by a passing motorbike, I can deal with that.

Been rushing around all day and in grumps mood but sky pretty at the moment; so I’m taking a breather to appreciate the beauty. It’s the simple things sometimes.

I think a lot of Australians get complacent overseas, we live in a relatively safe country that we forget it’s not like that everywhere. This tragedy really makes you think twice about where to travel.

Not a good news story, we need more competition in domestic aviation. But I feel like Bonza never stood a chance. Strange route choices and being forced to book via an app, among other issues.

I’ve caved a bit in the last few days, been feeling really cold when I get up. Held firm up to then. The next week is looking slightly warmer though.

My gas usage (excluding supply) for 2.5 months was $90. The only gas appliance I have is ducted heating which hasn’t been switched on at all this year. That seems high, right? The heater system has an always-on pilot light but $90 for just that seems very steep.

The heater system is about 30 years old, might be on the fritz - but turned on this morning and it was working fine.

@tone212_@aussie.zone avatar

Sorry I stuffed this, it’s $71 usage after adjustment. Gas bills are so confusing to decipher because of this estimating and adjusting that happens. Still seems high for a pilot light to stay on for one unused appliance.

Yeah, I got a heat pump unit installed when my old gas system died. So much cheaper to run!

If you use your regular bank card, very likely you will be charged currency conversion fees for every transaction you make overseas. I’m with CBA and they charge these fees for my everyday account.

What you need is an account that doesn’t charge currency conversion or ATM withdrawal. Look at Bankwest for debit or Latitude for credit.

I saw a menu ad at a CBD pub recently that advertised a Chicken Parmi. I shuddered. This is how to lose customers.

I was so stressed earlier today that it triggered my asthma and I was getting really short on breath. That was a experience as a new asthma sufferer. Many Ventolin puffs and a good gym session later, feeling much more relaxed. Night rain helps too although it’s really coming down.

The price of my private health insurance (with extras) keeps on going up and up to the point where I don’t get enough value out of it anymore. Looking at options for just having basic hospital/ambulance cover and it’s still so expensive. Almost $100 a month. Having insurance seems like a luxury these days.

Successful day in the garden. Grass mowed for first time in months, weeds pulled, plants pruned, leaves collected, green bin is full. Perfect day for it.

My parents live nearby and have a spare, and were home, got lucky.
