Welcome to a Saturday Morning #FediListen

It's where I go to the #music tag and I find the first three songs, listen to them, and give the songs a collective tarot reading.

The criteria:

-must use the music tag
-must include some way to listen to the music
-must include the title and artist
-must include some description of the music in the body of the post. Literally any attempt at description will do.
-must be only one song (not an album)

It is time! Let us commune with the Fediverse!

@buru5 sends us "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" as covered by The Cardigans (1994).

and for our final pull,

@musenhain sends us "Mama" by Genesis (1983).

toot by forrest @buru5 i've always found pop covers of metal songs fascinating as they clearly draw out the original creator's intended melody and reveal the pop underpinnings of metal (standard verse-chorus song structures, for example), and The Cardigan's cover of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath comes close to being one of my favorite renovations. anything else come to mind? #music
A prime example of how few harmonic variations you can get away with if the arrangement is good. I also didn't know that Phil Collins' voice could do that before. Last but not least, of course, there was also something for a synthesizer-loving teenager: Genesis - Mama
