On one side, I understand. I also think a slightly bigger phone would have been a bit better. I have to (partly) disagree with the edge-to-edge. I believe smaller phones need some edges because of the way you hold them… But yeah, a slightly bigger 4 inch screen should allow for smaller bezels, and it would still be tiny compared to “”“compact phones”“” nowadays.
That Mode 1 Retro II looks interesting! I checked the specs, and definitely the slightly bigger screen and 720p might be a lot better for some people. I still think I prefer the Jelly Star by specs, tho.
I get it. I wish there were more options like this. I am just happy that I finally have an option again. And judging by reviews and some owners, the phone sctually makes people quickly change their mind when they see it working.
I have not forgotten. And this is not so much swimming upstream but rather, as Captain America said, it’s more like planting yourself like a tree and say “no, you move”.
4G is here to stay for a long while. It’s fast enough for 99% of cases and 5G only covers very small areas, and will only be used (at least for now) on crowded areas where it makes sense.
Also, this device has 480p screen… I think 4G is pretty fine.
I don’t think 4G will get outdated in the next 5 years considering that 4G devices are still being launched today… And also considering that most people are just connected to Wi-Fi anyways…
I think we can be fine with this phone for 4/5 years and the Jelly Star 5G will probably be out there when the time comes.
No worry, I understand. As I said, I will report back, and I am even thinking of uploading videos about this, specially if it turns out as good as it seems. I hate that neither MKBHD, LTT, JerryRig… No one showed this bad boy while they all cried that small phones are dying… Well, now I am starting to believe they might be part of the problem…
I was not a podcast guy at all, but I stumbled upon Andrew Huberman a few months ago and wow, what an amazing source of information and it has helped me a lot while making conmutes and training sessions a lot less wasteful....
Thousands of papers against a single article. Yeah, right.
To be honest, I would love to see him truly debunked. That would be incredibly useful. But so far science has his back, and as long as that keeps going, I am going to listen to what he says.
Okay so, half of those links have nothing to do with Huberman, so I am not going to bother commenting on those.
As per the other 2, one is about his personal life, which… Why should we give a f*ck? I don’t see how that is related to his podcasts; and the other link is a video where some scientists say “actually Huberman does a great job of bringing science to the masses, but of course some of the technicalities get lost when reducing things down”… Um…
So the only argument against Huberman is that some dumbf*cks may bypass his warnings about experimental treatments… So let’s ban science discussions in general… Right?
Still, I am not saying that his work is perfect. There are things I’ve seen in the podcast that I did not like (Zuckerberg’s one, for example), but that is the good thing about life, you know? You can like some parts and not the others.
It seems like the FOSS community is continuing to grow, and FOSS apps keep getting better (Immich reallh blew my mind recently), which is a big win 😎 but there are still many apps I use that I would kill for an open source alternative. I am curious what you guys think? Are there any apps you’d love alternatives for?
The first one stablished a very very low IQ main character… So either Harley is truly a genius or they will simply dream their escape while very high on drugs.
Small phone lovers... our era is not over. Yesterday I discovered the Unihertz Jelly Star. I fell in love. I will be reporting back. (www.unihertz.com)

Any podcasts at the level of Huberman Lab in terms of science and self-improvement?
