This is my jam! I have so many of these cookbooks tucked away on my ereader. Have you read any of Eliza Leslie? Cooking and housekeeping hints, but she is so salty! Hannah Wooley was the first woman in England to have a cookbook published. It was so popular, others started immediately ripping off her recipes and republishing them with new titles.

Practical boots! Chris Hadfield mentioned foot mobility assists, gotta find out more. They look rad. Also, as someone who very recently learned to mend fabrics, how do you keep elbows, gloves and knees flexible without losing durability? The old NASA EVA suits were miserable for the wearer’s hands and feet. Their fingernails bled and tore from manipulating those gloves. Those are shitty, very, very expensive gloves.

This is a great question! I remember the Army recruiting pitches of the early 1990s, they claimed to offer personal development, education benefits and travel, the selling points were geared exclusively towards the very young and unattached, but the actors in the posters and commercials seemed to be mostly older, mid 20s to early 30s. No acne or braces there.

This is the way, let the current employer keep paying you, win/win. Do not quit until you are actually offered and accept another job. Keep an open mind throughout. There is nothing wrong with doing whatever they ask you to do (picking up trash, etc.) while your requests are sorted out, it makes you look good actually. These people may not be your allies, but they may not be enemies. Be cool.
