voidMainVoid,

Here’s what I don’t get about this. If you vote for Trump this time, you know what you’re getting. He was already president, so you know what you’re in for. Is there really anybody on the fence here? I mean, I understand hating both candidates and declining to vote for either one, but if you vote for Trump, then you agree with Trump.

voidMainVoid,

That’s already happening in some places and there’s a movement (supported by democrats and vehemently opposed by republicans) to enact alternative voting methods.

Where? And who in the DNC supports this?

voidMainVoid,

“The flood of crap” isn’t what people should be worried about. They should be worried about Meta embracing, extending, and extinguishing the Fediverse. There’s a good article about this here. People are worried about the wrong things and don’t realize what’s at stake.

voidMainVoid,

Could somebody explain what “fedipact” means?

voidMainVoid,

There was an app for MacOS…7? I think. It was called ASCIIPaint, and it allowed you to draw these pictures using a mouse.

voidMainVoid,

Atheists don’t support religions.

Why not?

Even fake ones.

What makes you think that it’s fake? I’m a Satanist, and the religion is very real for me. It has had a positive influence on my life.

voidMainVoid,

The Satanic Temple is not the same as the Church of Satan.

voidMainVoid,

Content isn’t the problem. Seriously, read that article. I was 100% pro-federation before I read it. Now I’m 100% against it.

nm, to fediverse

Why are they defederating? Is that what you’re asking?

ETA: There’s a good article behind the reasoning here, using XMPP as an object lesson. Corporations can co-opt open standards through a Microsoft-ish “embrace, extend, extinguish” strategy.

    voidMainVoid,

They won’t. They already said that they won’t unless there’s “trouble”. Whatever that means.

    voidMainVoid,

More competition is better, but Facebook is still the 800-pound gorilla. It took a landmark court case to stop Microsoft from taking over the Web. We might need something similar for social networking.

    voidMainVoid,

Wouldn’t that depend upon how they’re going to cheat?

    voidMainVoid,

I’m voting for Jill Stein or Cornel West. Both are much better choices than Trump or Biden.

    voidMainVoid,

You think that Biden was forced into this? Did somebody put a gun to his head? Do you honestly believe that Bernie Sanders would’ve said the same things if he were president?

    voidMainVoid,

They pointed out that we on the left may have disagreed with McCain or Bush, but we never once feared that they would seize power or leave NATO.

They were saying all of the same things about W. Bush in 2004.

We trusted them to at least keep the ship afloat and respect the basic tenants of our free and democratic nation.

Not at all. The left viewed W. Bush as a wannabe dictator, not much different from how Trump is viewed now.

    voidMainVoid,

Well, it’s very easy for you to make a claim like that, because it’s impossible for me to disprove it, but I find it implausible. For one thing, Trump did a lot of things that people thought were impossible for a president to do.

Again, nobody held a gun to Biden’s head.

    voidMainVoid,

Yeah, I wish I had a wife, too.

    voidMainVoid,

It seems like you could say that about any organization. Is there something special about a religion that makes it more likely to be corrupt? Even one like TST?

    voidMainVoid,

Where did I say that I wanted them separate from the state? I only say that every religion should have equal rights. The state shouldn’t favor one religion over another.

    voidMainVoid,

I wouldn’t believe anything about TST based on hearsay, because a lot of people are misinformed.

    voidMainVoid,

It’s been that way ever since the Obama betrayal

It was that way during the 2004 Bush v. Kerry election and probably the 2000 Bush v. Gore election, too. (I don’t remember much about 2000 because I wasn’t really paying attention to politics yet.) And it probably goes back even further than that.

You know all of the rhetoric used against Trump? They were saying all of the same things about W. Bush.

    voidMainVoid,

Why do you see this as trolling, though? I saw the display, and there was nothing insulting or disrespectful about it.

Now, if it had been a defaced crucifix or something like that, I could agree. But I don’t see how Baphomet itself is offensive to Christianity. It isn’t even a Christian icon. It comes from occultism.
