Mastodon, to random
@Mastodon@mastodon.social avatar

Following the German @ZDF and @tagesschau, the BBC is giving Mastodon a go through their own server. You can now follow the official @BBCRadio4 and a few other accounts on social.bbc!

vtec,

@Mastodon I know more than a few people who use(d) Twitter for news. If they bring the BBC News accounts, the Mastodon will quickly become more appealing to a lot more people. This is great news!

My dad's plannng to give away my spare system that I run Linux on.

If he finds out that it runs Linux, he is going to get so mad. Need to get Windows on there, quick...

vtec,

@awoodsnet Not a privacy freak or a FOSS nerd xD. I wanted to use Linux because it was easier to manage and tweak things to my liking. The laptop was more of a tinkering machine just to mess around and get things to work while I figure out how to get stuff working on there while not breaking the system

Lemmy community account on mastodon boosts both posts and replies

@lemmy

when i follow a lemmy community on mastodon, the "account" of the community boosts both posts and replies - that is not how it is on lemmy itself, and the replies being boosted lead to a lot of out-of-context on my timeline. why is that so, and is it possible to change it so that it boosts only posts?

vtec,

@Pxtl Practically, the best option would be to boost only posts from the community as that's how it would be shown on the Lemmy feed. Since the posts and replies themselves appear as standard posts and replies on Mastodon as well, only boosted by the Lemmy community account.

vtec, to fediverse

if i follow a feed on mastodon, posts and replies appear in the chronological timeline, which causes a lot of confusion related to context

how about allowing only posts to be on a lemmy community's mastodon account (like @formula1) and replies can be as-is, as on a regular activitypub posts (because that's how it appears eitherway)

vtec,

@Darkhoof @bwoah
Yuki is doing fairly well right now (technical limitations kept in mind), and DR hasn't raced in six months. I wouldn't expect him to be in good right off the bat.

vtec,

@bhmnscmm I literally do not see the point of this. Seems completely arbitrary
