I wonder if trans fat will just be renamed into something obscure... that will be much harder for consumers to detect. I don't think you can ban them 100% since most food will contain one. Certain oil cooking them too long will turn them some of it into trans fat.
I agree I don't think its a failure either we all knew that reddit will not revert their decision. In back of our minds were probably thinking any alternative here. What I took from this protest made me realize there are other alternative to reddit. I was already aware of fediverse in general, but that was when twitter did their moment but I'm not a fan of those kind of social media. But being introduced with lemmy and creation of filipino community made the push to choose this as my main social media/forum.
They will only hate it when it affects them. I noticed most post there have huge investments with their account might scared them loosing r/Philippines in turn making all those investment useless.
I have a feeling it will remain open for 1 reason we voted a Macros in the seat. Filipinos have this mindset that its the way it is, we cannot do anything about it.
Edit: I voted for the other option to perhaps keep it closed until admin does want to re-open.
To be fair I think Senator wanted to entertain the people to give some brief relief from the stress of the vulcanic eruption. But I can't help to feel to be off put for some reason.
Aside from Peertube one I could think of is vimeo, dailymotion, dtube and twitch, then again in terms of content and servers available around the world nothing matching youtube, except maybe tiktok and twitch. There is pornhub which I think could be the best competitor for youtube barely any restrictions you can talk shit in fact some actually upload gaming videos and some random stuff aside from porn ofcourse they have a lot of servers around the world. The videos dont buffer that much. Who ever owns pornhub if they decide to have sfw alternative to it they could be best alternative to youtube.
Edit: I think they dont have sfw because its hard to make money out of it similar to youtube which is operating at a loss. The only reason google still keeps youtube running is because its a white elephant.
First of all, let me say that while the admins can do what they want, I think it's pretty unfortunate that beehaw is defederating from .world and shitjustworks. I don't want to see the fediverse fracture, I want it to encourage conversation with others....
To be fair I don't mind that .world should just keep federate it may be one way but content is content some people just lurk anyway. Its probably what makes .world attractive aside from no requirement in registration.
More than 7,000 registered subscriber identification module (SIM) cards were seized from a Taiwanese national and his two Filipino accomplices in a raid in Bulacan province on Wednesday, a month before the already extended deadline for SIM card registration lapses....
What did we expect we all knew this will eventually happen. Laws in the Philippines are mainly a suggestion most only follow what is convenient at the time, except perhaps murder but with enough influence one can get away with it. Even more with SIM card law, especially we have poor track record with anything related to tech, unlicensed radios, unlicensed peso wifi, probably breaking their contract of their isp also. I wonder if they will start charging those 7308 sim owners who sold their sims. I bet they won't most wont be able to pay the fine in the first place and it will be just impractical. I guess what we get from this law is our sim is now tied with our personal information. Another bureaucracy, anti poor and impractical law.
Fair on her she has been the punching bag of the previous and current administration, apparently being transparent is not a team player, her style of governenance might be foreign in the Philippines, people just cant seem to accept it.
Aready expecting high gains for something that is high chance will cripple the country in the near future. Maybe economic managers are taking advice from wallstreetbet redditors. Buy high sell low, 💎💎👐
I think its best if e open but restricted yung post sa r/Philippines para ma kita ng iba yung link sa c/Philippines at ma bigyan din ng context bakit ganito.
Since lemmy ay federated got curious what c/Philippines looks like in mastodon. For those curious you can do @Philippines. At the moment posts are not showing not sure why sa @lemmyworld its showing naman.
@youronlyone I can't seem to reply directly from you I guess you made this post from mastodon and its one of those limitations. As for no backfilling thats unfortunate, from a users perspective it does not make sense, it seem logical to expect old post showing up but from a performance perspective I see the point. Overall at moment its just a novelty for now.
