warm,

Valve could reduce their cut honestly, perhaps some program for independent developers to help them get on their feet. I don't think the top games or big publishers should be getting cut reductions.

Either way, Valve haven't been buying out studios for exclusive games, so Epic and Sweeney can go fuck themselves, they are scum.

warm,

For gaming you are better off with a proper monitor.

warm,

And most TVs will work just fine for that.

warm,

I was playing devil's advocate to that, implying they are not killer features. TV gaming is generally consoles, which are all 60fps in 99% of cases anyway.

TVs with actual new panels or features are far too expensive for people to consider, when their current ones already do the job.

Jagex co-founder and ex-employee (Andrew Gower) announces new MMORPG inspired by RuneScape (store.steampowered.com)

I mean, when I saw an ex-Jagex employee making a new MMO I thought it was going to be slightly inspired by RuneScape… But this game looks exactly like RuneScape, and the description of the gameplay also matches it perfectly - this is essentially RuneScape 3 but managed by someone else (and with a much newer engine)

warm,

Looks more restrictive even, why can I only see 20 tiles at a time? MMORPG is a hard genre to break into and I don't think just slapping his name on this one is going to attract much of a crowd when they are all busy with OSRS already.

warm,

I am well aware, but it doesnt change my opinion. Looks more suited to be an RPG than an MMO.

Looks like they are trying to attract the mobile audience, but they are too late for that aswell.

warm,

Needs some form of regulation. The new generations are so indoctrinated into skins and battle passes that they talk about how much they should cost instead of if they should even exist in the first place.
No education will change things, they have grown up with these cancerous monetisation methods, countries just need to ban it, like they were starting to do with lootboxes.

Try these settings on Firefox in about:config

gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.enhanced_contrast = 100
gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.pixel_structure = 5
gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.rendering_mode = 5
gfx.font_rendering.fallback.always_use_cmaps = true

I cannot use Firefox without them. They adjust the text rendering to be more... normal, I don't understand why they aren't default, but maybe things change at higher resolutions (but I don't own a 2160p monitor to test).

warm,

I've accidentally fell into a Linux space, my bad! This will work on Windows, I'm not sure of alternatives on Linux, I gave up using it before I could play around with Firefox.

Try looking for aliasing options under gfx.font_rendering and trying them out.

warm,

No, Windows has good font rendering actually. It's very much just a Firefox issue on Windows.

warm,

Linux's looks more blurry to me, Window's is much sharper. Maybe at different resolutions it changes though, you need less aliasing at higher res.

warm,

They are waiting outside the town with more sand and their wallets open!

Valve's iFixit partnership is a game changer (sh.itjust.works)

I dropped my launch edition steam deck last night on carpet and while all the buttons still worked- something was rattling inside of it. After I opened it up I discovered a missing chunk of plastic from the R2 trigger, that piece presses against another to keep the button from over articulating. I suspect this trigger absorbed...

warm,

It's great for electronics, but be careful with the bits on non-electronic stuff, they are quite soft and wear easily against stronger screws.

warm,

Now they need to make asking for ID to access or delete data illegal.

warm,

320kbps mp3 sounds pretty much exactly the same as lossless anyway.

I agree, take the mp3s and Bluetooth over wired!

warm,

Yup, I don't understand the need for lossless, but I guess it's just a fun hobby thing.

warm,

Welcome to the world my guy. Little old me can't change it, but I can express my desire for it. You will see a lot of people doing the exact same thing across many many topics, luckily the port on the back of a TV is hardly an important issue for me to take the time to campaign further.

warm,

I'm not sure the exact prices, probably varies with volume of products sold.

warm,

You are on a content aggregation site where people post opinions and discuss random crap, what are you expecting to see here???

Who do you think setup and owns the HDMI foundation?

Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Philips etc...

warm,

Youve lost me, why would the TV manufacturers who get royalties from licensing HDMI want to offer a free alternative?

warm,

What do Tesla fans expect at this point? Every product is made as cheaply as possible and sold on marketing bullshit.

warm,

You cannot say that definitely. There's every chance my problems are fixed, the more people who adopt linux the more similar problems people will have.

I agree that Linux desktop will probably never take off due to the nature of its development, but we dont know that for sure. If companies like Valve want to keep investing into it, there's always a chance.

warm,

Even with matched refresh rates, the issues persisted.
