No opinion on number 50, otherwise they’re all good.

Today’s looking like a great day to ride out to Purcelleville for barbecue and ice cream. Mid-80s, sunny, light breeze.

@wiredog That looks amazing...

Our local BBQ place closed a while back. It was literally the first place I wanted to visit when I was recovered enough to leave my house.

We're heading to NC for a week or so in mid-May to visit my brother-the-hippie. Imagonna make him take me out for bbq every day we're there.

@wiredog yep, FB doesn't let me post it either. I guess they don't like The Kansas Reflector for whatever reason.

@Stacky

More KitchenAid talk.

Modern appliances are rarely built to last. They could learn something from the KitchenAid stand mixer. https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2024/02/kitchenaid-stand-mixer-durability/677524/?gift=lXYKxj_TVbvBJumoueZhMGhVEVFWAzdznnls_YUKo6g

Over on BlueSky saw I picked up a follow. Took a look, as usual, to make sure it wasn’t someone horrifying (as I used to do at Twitter). Not horrifying, but… @anonymous.expectus.fyi you are going to be so disappointed… I am definitely of what is now the center left, pretty much a Standard Democrat™ . So maybe 25% congruent with Anonymous?

I mean, I firmly believe that having to spend the rest of his life in Putin’s Russia isn’t less than what Snowden deserves.

Apparently an American professor suggested adding a pinch of salt to a cup of tea. The US Embassy in London has stepped up to repair the damage.

It’s not just Marvel and Star Wars that have too much Stuff for me to keep up with. The Star Trek novels got away from me a couple decades ago and I never even tried with the Star Wars eu.

@wiredog and as for marvel… i burned out before end game, end game got me interested enough to watch a few more but no, I’m done there too. I just don’t care for any of them except for the she-hulk bobblehead on my desk.

@obvioustroll

I kept up with the Star Trek books through the 80’s and early 90’s, but then apparently Paramount cracked down on the plotting and they got less interesting.

“The Final Reflection” by John Ford was not only great Trek, it was good SF. Very different from any other Star trek book. And of Diane Duane’s ST books in the 80’s were good.

In addition to hating Cmake I’m beginning to seriously doubt the utility of git.

Things that were relatively easy to do in Turbo C++ on MS-DOS 30 years ago are difficult in Linux today.

@wiredog git and linux have the same author of course!

Git really needs a layer on top of it. Most people I know who use it are actually using gitub + vscode.
