How to know your DVD player is too old:

  1. All the DVDs are playing in sepia tone. (Not kidding.)
  2. You still own a DVD player.

I have to say, I don't even remember how old this thing was, but the Mrs felt kind of judged when she wanted to watch her Pride and Prejudice tonight.

Last night I was talking to my wife and said “I think I’m down to my baseline level of stress.” Her response was that it’s sad I have a baseline level of stress.

Do other people not live with a constant baseline of stress? I thought this was normal.

So what’s interesting is when I started on the hot flash medication, a baseline of anxiety that I didn’t realize I had went away. Since it was always there, I didn’t register it. There’s a link between anxiety and and hot flashes; treating one will treat the other. Crazy stuff

Passed test 2 with 93%, it was challenging.

One of the things we need to know for the certification exam is the top 200 drugs: brand name, generic, drug class, side effects. I need to make flash cards and find an app

Holy crap I found this box on the ground and.... I own this set. They're from like the late 80s and are all about the Reagan and Bush era drug war stuff. There are a couple other similar sets I have for other scandals of the era.

so for a while the grocery store was being extremely annoying with their theft detection -- basically, if you put your own reusable grocery bag in the bagging area, they'd be like HEY YOU LITTLE THIEVING SHIT, STOP IT, and call over the attendant to verify you didn't try to steal anything. combined with the city's mandate to bring your own bags, it made self-checkout a trying experience. but the last couple times, not a peep!

@gzt they turned off the weigh feature of the self checkouts here, they called the attendant for every. single. thing. Now you just breeze through, as Mother Nature intended.

Had another moment where my phone was like LOL you didn't actually lock me right, now that you put me in your pocket, I'll mess up all of your settings. Never had this problem with the previous phone. Really need to sort this out.

My immunization titers just came back! I am not immune to mumps and rubella!

I've actually wondered about this! A few years ago, I read that MMR vaxs given during certain years of the early 70s have not been giving lifetime immunity. It seems I received those vaccines!

Gotta make an appointment for my MMR. This is actually nerdy immunity fun!

Like, I think age-ism is bad, and that people are capable of quite a lot for longer than they are often given a chance to be in life. But your executive ability and energy levels do decrease as you age. And, well, there's a pipeline of talent that deserves opportunity. So it's a really hard sell to keep politicians and high government officials in office after, say, 75.

To those “parents” butthurt about their child “changing”: The problem is not that your child “changed” gender. The problem is that you weren’t safe and loving enough for them to be who they always were around you.

That means you failed as a parent.

@lilithsaintcrow @ucblockhead I suppose it’s the same reason parents push their kids into a particular activity (sport, dance, instrument, acting, etc) or career. I see it happening to my kids’ peers and it’s just awful. Parents just being horrible human beings.
