Well additionally, meat is usually best tasting when the animal is more or less culled during the prime of their life, so not only would a young person have to be prescient enough to write a will, but be in the very small percentage of young people who also desire to be eaten.

This argument, even from a cold logical standpoint, still strikes me as rather nonsensical, as anyone who might actually desire this who had thought it through, would have had extensive life experience to come to such a conclusion. This would result in an elderly person essentially saying, “please eat my tough not succulent flesh after I pass away.”

Yes and if you read the Vox article the meme is referencing, this is very much not the case. Mother pigs being torn apart literally as factory farm workers laugh, make jokes, and generally make comments you’d hear out of a dramatized serial murderer.

These practices not only have horrific effects on the animals obviously, but these workers lose whatever shreds of humanity they might have going into it, and I’d assume they have similar sick fantasies about murdering/torturing humans in a similar fashion.

No, they say “Rip that removed in half” prior to splitting a mother pig in half. The article points out that piglets are fed other chopped up piglets and feces and.

The workers are recorded as saying things like “I needed that”, indicating that beating these animals is not just a necessity, but inherently pleasurable to them.

I dont think a person who makes such statements and those that are willing to laugh/nod in agreement at such sentiments are in a healthy mindset. Those kinds of statements in that context indicate these are people who get pleasure out of torturing and killing living beings. I disagree that this is a huge leap. Given enough time in dehumanizing conditions like that, every animal becomes just a hunk of flesh, rather than a being with complex feelings and experiences.

And I’m not naive enough to believe that this kind of work doesn’t attract particularly sadistic people.

Exactly, this is a farcical argument. The simple fact is that we as a society are only as good as how we treat and support our most disenfranchised people.

This argument presumes that only trans and a handful of their friends and family members support trans rights and trans integration into broader society, when the truth is that the majority of people want trans integration because we know aforementioned simple fact from having researched, and in some cases lived, the consequences of not standing up for disenfranchised peoples in the past.

I don’t use Google Fi, but a quick search shows that many have gotten it to work with Graphene OS just fine. You can still install Fi from the Play Store, and it appears all works as intended as long as you grant it Network Permissions.

I’d do research on it though if you’re truly interested. They have a link to their Matrix chat on their website where you can field general questions.

In regards to ad blocking. My solution isn’t as all encompassing as that, but for general web browsing, I use the Mull browser as you can install some addons like ublock and noscript. I’ll admit though if you’re looking to install advertisement heavy Play Store Apps though, I’d say maybe look into using a PiHole to adblock your home network?

I stand very corrected. My apologies for not investigating this further before posting. I suppose i should rephrase my previous comment as:

I find it ironic that Google allows its flagship product to be rooted with an OS dedicated specifically to limiting data harvesting of Pixel users.

I actually have a Pinephone from a few years ago (2 years now I think?). I never used it as a daily driver as it was very slow and had comparatively less features than the iphone and samsung phones i had had previously.

Upon recently deciding on purchasing the Pixel 7a and installing Graphene OS on it, i did heavily consider the Fairphone, but I’m in the US and they only just started to come to our shores. The family plan I’m on wasn’t a supported carrier, so that more or less made the decision for me.

The observation about the pinephone and fairphone being more environmentally friendly is intriguing. Care to elaborate a bit please?

Yeah, strangely enough, while this kind of character development doesn’t make the show worse, it does make it more obvious (at least to me) that her character hasn’t been given the screen time the others have that dives into her backstory.

Plus that episode is a tease because she starts off excited to do something other than fly the ship with an inner monologue and everything.

Had she gone down to the planet and somehow realized by the end of the episode that she loves flying the ship, or the other characters learning that she’s so much more than just a pilot, that would have been satisfactory to me (at least for a season).
