BorgDrone,

I dunno, don’t ask me, this is not a family thing, it’s just for me.

The thing is, these services may have a lot of content but most of that content doesn’t suit my taste.

It’s the exact same thing as music streaming services. Apple Music may have 90M songs in their library, that doesn’t mean I listen to all of it. What it does mean is that it’s very likely that they will have something that appeals to me in their catalog, in fact with 90M songs they will have enough for me to constantly find cool new music.

It just means I have a large catalog to choose from, not that I have to watch it all.

BorgDrone,

Now we just need someone to find the api key used by the official app …

BorgDrone,

their suspensions and removal have been revoked by a diff admin

I wonder if that means there is also disagreement within reddit itself.

BorgDrone,

Everyone has a test environment. Some are lucky enough to have a separate environment for production.

BorgDrone,

BorgDrone,

at some point your internal battery will be degraded enough that it essentially needs to be plugged in to function, which is not feasible.

In the majority of devices the device will be obsolete before the battery is degraded to the point of being unusable.

BorgDrone,

That's debatable. Sure. my account doesn't actually contain my name and address, but it contains almost 14 years of posts and comments. Through the years I've probably let slip enough small pieces of information about myself that a motivated person would be able to identify me. This would still make it identifiable information.

BorgDrone,

My main mode of transportation is by bike (I’m Dutch so that’s not surprising). For most trips a bicycle is much faster than a car. I only use my car if need to go a long distance or if I need to transport something too big to transport by bike. I only need to fill up my car with gas once or twice a year.

BorgDrone,

I own a. car, but it’s a tiny car (Mitsubishi Colt CZ3) so it’s in a very low tax bracket, I also have maximum no-claim discount on my insurance and this model car is very reliable so maintenance is minimal. It’s probably a little bit more expensive than a membership in a car sharing service but it has the advantage of always being available when needed.

For iOS users looking for an app, there is a quick and easy solution

I apologize if this has already been covered, but I’ve seen a lot of people talking about a need for a kbin app. While I agree that a native app would be nice to have eventually, I figured that quite a few people probably aren’t aware of how web apps work. I don’t use Android, so I have no idea if there is an equivalent...

BorgDrone,

This feature has been there since iOS 1.0. Originally this was the way Apple envisioned how ‘apps’ on iPhone were going to work. Only with iOS 2.0 did Apple add the app store and support for native apps. And the rest is history.

BorgDrone,

Hell no. I can't think of any company I trust less than Meta/Facebook.

BorgDrone,

I dunno. Google is just driven by greed, they are bad but at least they are predictably bad. Facebook feels more like they are genuinely evil, like they are actively trying to make the world worse.

BorgDrone,

I don't think he will step down on his own. However, Reddit has a board and shareholders. If they feel he's a big enough threat to Reddit's value and future then he's out. The way forward is to put a spotlight on how unstable he is and how incompetently he has been running Reddit. He is a liability to Reddit, not an asset, and if this is made visible to the right people then there is a chance the situation may be salvaged.
