I’m still trying to wrap my head around Fediverse concepts as well but the thing that stands out for me is that there is a history of private companies effectively killing open source projects.
For us, the vulnerability is ActivityPub. If Meta begins “contributing” to a foundational Fediverse technology, they have the resources to extend the protocol in a way that benefits Meta only, at a pace that only a company with the resources of Meta can.
If the strategy was to get mainstream profile for SNW by including Jim Kirk as a recurring character, it seems to be working. Esquire has an interesting take on Wesley’s Kirk as a kind of ‘best of’ everyman captain....
Was she though? Didn’t she plot to have a political rival assassinated? I feel like she has more of a Walter White motivational style where she kept saying it was for the good of Bajor (family) but she just really liked having power.
Yeah that’s quite a fair point! Complex characters is quite a strength of DS9 especially in their villains. Glad to have be having a discussion like this
The Supreme Court has blocked President Biden's plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt for more than 40 million Americans. The court's conservative justices expressed skepticism about Biden's authority to forgive student loan debt without direct authorization from Congress.
It’s so infuriating. It’s like the culture war programming blinds them to seeing that they are voting against their own interests and policies they actually support
I didn’t even think about the messages people are sending these companies by not leaving their respective platforms in response to hostile audience/consumer policy changes.
They know now they can get away with it with minimal impact on their bottom line …
Nioh 2 is a solid choice. I didn’t like it as much as the first one but the ability to play through the entire campaign with friends is definitely a plus. This is the only series to come close to the experience found in FromSoft titles IMO
I ended up getting New World since it’s the lowest price I’ve seen. I’m also hoping that the game has improved since launch. Going to keep browsing this thread to see what other deals people share!

Really enjoyed this episode! Wasn’t quite sure where it was going at first but just went along for the ride and ended up really liking it. Refreshing to see a good temporal mechanics Star Trek episode again.
I’m not 100% sold on new Kirk yet but I also don’t dislike him either. It’s kind of surprising given how well Ethan Peck fits as Spock, I would have thought that Kirk’s casting would be equally spot on.
Still, curious to see where this goes, definitely loving the ride!
A certain stage of development has ended - a prototype was created that allowed me to verify whether such a form makes sense in the #fediverse. Until now, it was a project that I developed in my free time. Now, thanks to the great people from Nlnet, I will be able to devote much more time to it. This time, we have already...
I do wish that the up arrow and boost functionality would be reworked. Have up arrow actually be an upvote (the same as boost is now) and replace boost with a favorite function that would store the thread/comment in your profile so you can easily find it again
