Most names sound weird or confusing until you're familiar with it. A googol is a number, but nobody bats an eye when you tell people to "google" something.

It tapered off before the fediverse came crashing down from the influx of millions.
It reinforced the mandate to develop the fediverse, there's clearly something here and it's worth deving towards.
Reddit is guaranteed to shoot itself in the foot again, probably pre-IPO, definitely post-IPO, and now the fediverse is being given some much needed time to flesh itself out before they do.
If Reddit collapsed over this I don't believe the infrastructure exists at this time to onboard all those members, so it's a blessing in disguise.
It's a big, relevant, ongoing event which affects the fediverse directly. There's a huge influx of new users who were recently burned by it who would normally go to "the other website" to discuss, but no longer do.
Would you prefer they go back, or is there a place here for those displaced?
So, I'm new to the Fediverse as it seems that Reddit is a sinking ship. I've been trying to figure out how to customize my feed so I only see content from the Magazines that I subscribe. Like how you can customize your feed on Reddit to only show posts from subreddits that you were in....
The instance seems to be mostly right wing trolls. I know defederating is unpopular but I don't think much is to be lost in this case and it can save the mods some headaches....

Isn't it ironic.... that we all left reddit because 3rd party apps were being killed off, and came to a place where there are no 3rd party apps.
