Someone here already has 12 subs on his own. We would be inspired to avoid the era of the power mods. Moding should involve an interest, not just collecting rings of infinity like it's a gold rush. How can it be a good practice in the long term?...
Yes, by definition, pirates are thieves. Look it up, "piracy" means "the practice of attacking and robbing ships at sea" or "a practice similar to piracy but in other contexts, especially hijacking." Theft is inherent to piracy. Stealing, by definition, is taking something that isn't yours without permission, legal right, or intent to return. Sounds a lot like piracy, doesn't it? Why do you think internet piracy is called piracy?
Are pirates of software thieves? What about if the software is no longer available through other means? What if the person initially bought the software but lost the disc?
It doesn't matter, none of that is in any way relevant to this discussion. Justified or not, it is still taking something that does not belong to you without permission, legal right, or intent to return. The morals and ethics of software piracy, whether or not it should be considered a crime, that is a completely different topic of discussion.
Tone is important, but so is being a reasonable adult. Homie said "Don't be scabs" and you're acting like they called all their mothers cunts or something. It ain't that serious, dude.
There is another side to that coin; each of us are responsible for our own emotions, and we have control over our response to words. I'm not for a moment saying that people should say whatever they want and their victims should deal with it, that obviously isn't a path forward.
What I am saying is that people are assholes. Sometimes they're going to be assholes in my direction. While I agree that they shouldn't be assholes, I am not powerless in that situation. Like anything else, there's a balance to be found. I agree that OP's approach was...ill-conceived - it definitely was not polite - but was it really bullying and harassment?
I think we have an opportunity here to get ahead of a lot of the negative bullshit that plagued reddit. My concern is simply tempering the passions on either end to find a comfortable simmer somewhere in the middle.
Should we establish a maximum of subs per moderators?

Sent a polite message to the r/askreddit mods. Got a warning for bullying and harassment 4 hours later.

/r/videos announces that it will be entering it's blackout early - and indefinitely - given recent events
Think this case in particular is pretty interesting. Former default subreddit and one of the largest on the site (Top 20 at least)....
uhhh... what do I call the "subreddits"?
Very difficult to discuss with the fiance without know the terminology yet lol
