This city doesn't know what's coming
She doesn't feel the heat
This city won't know what hit her
What knocked her out into the streets
This city's thinking that it's over
And she's already fast asleep

Hell yeah! Menomena is in my top 5 bands of all time. Dearly miss them.

Oh dude I love Ramona Falls! 'Bellyfulla' is such an awesome song.
I also really enjoy Lackthereof, Danny Seim's solo project.
The Columbia
Holy Water

Very true. TAOS specifically comes to mind as similar to TVOTR.

I also always felt like ATD-I had a pretty similar vibe. Anything from Relationship Of Command

Love Perfume Genius. "Otherside" is a gorgeous song. Glad they're finally getting some appreciation with the YYYs release.

I'm just surprised she made it through all that without calling another republican a little bitch.

Is MTG crossing the aisle? /s

Why does it seem different platforms of the fediverse are not so good at communicating with each other? Is this something that will eventually improve?

I have an account on kbin. Recently I saw a post across my feed in which a magazine that I follow (that's based on a Lemmy instance) was celebrating over 1k subscribers. When I visited, I saw only 240 or so....

It's happened to several, but yeah, alternativenation was the one that set me off lol. I saw so many posts about so many great artists when I viewed from Lemmy! I was so bummed seeing everything I missed and didn't even realize I was missing it!

I have also wondered about search functionality. I have a magazine that is music focused but doesn't have the word music in it. However, with Kbin, I'm not aware (please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I can be a blundering idiot with technology) of a way to tag or add key search words for my magazine. So if you search for Music it will not show up. I assume Lemmy has something like that which is why something like the Punk community returns from a "music" search.

Respectfully, that doesn't have anything to do with what is happening here.

Why is it that when I go to a Lemmy community from kbin I see three posts by user123 in the last 24 hours, but when I go from Lemmy I see user123 has made 12 posts in the last 24 hours?

Something is not working as intended.

But that's the whole point of the post. I'm missing posts/threads from users. It's so much more than just subscriber count unfortunately. Votes were off as well from kbin vs Lemmy (Lemmy seems to auto upvote your own post, kbin doesn't - which could explain some variance) but haven't checked comments.

Yes, I have had ongoing issues with friends on lemm.ee accessing my magazines on kbin.social, despite being federated. That problem has persisted for about a month.

I guess even the things that seem to work properly have kinks to iron out.

Bard is by far one of the worst ai language models. Especially if you're trying to use it as a Google Search. It will just make shit up over and over and over again.

I recently remembered a song I enjoyed in high school but couldn't remember some lyrics. It was an old punk song - not super popular but also had a video on MTV and was a big hit amongst fans of the genre.

I asked it for the lyrics of the song and it said "sure here are the lyrics for the song by the band" and it literally made the whole thing up. I asked 5 more times for accurate lyrics and it just kept apologizing for making them up and promising the next one would be right.

My wife was also watching old episodes of shark tank the other night and asked me to find out if a product was successful after no deals were made. I asked Bard and it told me about how 2 investors fought over the product, a successful deal was made, and the company did 2 mil in profits in 2022. Knowing that they did not make a deal, I just did a regular bing search and learned the company actually went bankrupt before that episode even aired in 2012.

Bard is literal horse shit and if people do not check their facts after engaging with it they will be fucked. It is 100% confident in the information it fabricates.

Dude I was literally just thinking about making a post like this today. I was listening to music and firing up Cyberpunk 2077 and as I turned off the music was like, "damn I really wanna listen but I can't do that and play this game at the same time. I wonder what the best games to do that are..."

Personally, Oxygen Not Included, City Skylines, and Cult of the Lamb are a few I've been playing recently where I could keep my music playing without it being intrusive or out of place feeling. Staying tuned for what others say for sure!

They don't have a meeting with Toyota and say "check out the community banner our users created"

They say "we launched a promo that lasted 48 hours (or w/e the fuck it is) and community engagement was through the roof. We had an increase of x% users during this time. The next time we will do this it will be $X amount for X amount of ad space so you can get in front of X amount of users"

I haven't seen r/place but I bet there are 0 ads on that page. Reddit is smarter than to sell ad space next to FUCK SPEZ and My Little Pony Porn. What they will do is increase ad prices for the next "event".

No matter what you think, this engagement is supporting them.

Agreed. Everything has to be black or white/right or wrong with right wingers. There is no middle ground. They don't have the brain power to process anything but two-way thoughts and we all suffer for it.

Women are mere decades away from losing the right to vote on the republican path of destruction.

I keep trying to explain that engaging with reddit (even saying fuck reddit or advertising the fediverse) still puts money in Reddit's pockets. The only option is to stop going there and focus on content here.

And as for those who want to continue to use reddit to complain about reddit on reddit... Well I am okay with those people not being recruited to here tbh

I didn't say I want content vomit. I said focusing on content is essential. A community is nothing without content. We need questions being asked and answered in our tech communities. We need artists and musicians posting in theirs. We need conversation that is thought provoking which allows our communities to form and flourish.

If you see the word content and just jump to dumb memes than I think that's more of an issue with your way of thinking than an issue with anything I have suggested.

I completely agree, friendo.

This should not become reddit 2.0. let them keep their platform for poop jokes. I'm 100% content with the users we have and have had a wonderful time engaging with them. We don't need to advertise on r/place is the point I tried to make. We don't need the people who are still using reddit and think it's funny writing FUCK on r/place.

Sorry if I didn't get that across originally.

You assume I want the average redditor here.
