We desperately need regulation for people and workers in extreme temperatures. We'll be dealing with more and more of it as times goes on so the protections need to be in place.
There have been so many targeted projects to weaken the publics understanding of climate change as a whole and activists personally. It's high time that these companies reinvest their record breaking profits into fixing the problem they have a large hand in creating.
While each heat dome has brought its own set of impacts to different regions across the globe, the common denominator is the tally of broken temperature records.
We're breaking temperature records left, right and centre. Really crazy to read one area in China recorded it's lowest ever records temp in Jan of - 53C considering it's +52C now
2.7C increase would not look good for the majority of the world and it seems to be where we are heading. Very disheartening, but all we can do is keep on doing what we can regardless!
I think we all know rapid change is possible if the right motivators are there. Not sure how you get people and legislators to make the rapid change we need.
A few things we can do as individuals is fly less, eat less meat, drive less (where possible).
On a larger scale, write to your representatives, and vote for people who actually put climate change at the forefront of their agenda. It's now time for us all to be really pushy.
I completely understand the sentiment, and it is very frustrating living in the greenest way you can and it not seeminging to make a dent. But we can only really impact our circle of influence and control around us.
We have seen change on the economic level, if you look at the rise of dairy free milks a d plant based foods, 5 years ago they weren't main stream and now they are. All we can do is try and push the small changes with our wallets and hope to see the chnage to economies. As more people talk about climate change and write to their representatives the more these issues will be pushed to the fore as politicians will see them as important.
I have no idea if any of this change will happen soon enough, but I don't think the alternative is acceptable.
I suspect you are right, a lot of people will be displaced and at that point there is nothing else for them to focus on and rightly so. It does mean the responsibility lies with those who are able and have means.
I mean why? If people are more productive, and it's improves their lives. We also need to deal with a climate crisis and having people not commuting for a whole extra day/having extra time to engage politically would be very useful. Although maybe they are trying to disincentivise the last part.
Gosh this game is so good~ I started playing it on-and-off a few months ago but after I finished my finals earlier this week I decided to just really go full-in. The writing is amazing and I immediately want to replay it again with a different build! I played the game very psychological, solving the case using the paranormal and...
Sounds fantastic, you may have swayed me into buying it. I live the art style but I seem to be moving away from grittier/grunger games in recent times.
Apologies if I missed one that has already been held. But I saw a member census of beehaw, which was really interesting. I'm not suggesting gathering of any personally identifying info, but more generally getting a sense of who is here on kbin.
I've been wanting to play stray and it's on sale at the moment, but I have lots of unfinished games so I'm on the fence. Looks like an amazing game. Not sure I can deal with sad things happening to a cat though.

OC Can we have a kbin census?
