It’s an adjustment phase, but I’ve been here for a few minutes and already I like Lemmy better than Reddit. The entire format is just better put together. It feels like the old internet, where you could just shoot info back and forth without the rigamarole. I’m still not sure how every feature works, mind. Anyone out there...
Honestly a lot of it feels like gaslighting now. Some of us have been freaking out about this for a while.
Its the optiomy of we've tried nothing and we're out of ideas. Although I did see something about potentially blocking out the sun, so there's that option
We need big companies to really champion the move to green tech and renewables, and reinvest some of the profit. I don't think customers should shoulder the burden when you consider the last few years of recoding breaking profits
I intellectually understand the concept but personally cannot grasp it. The rise of the billionaire and the staggering record profits of some of these companies is just beyond the pale.
I think we're at a crisis point with the climate, we're hitting so many new records and milestones with a rapid pace.
As you say it's all destabilising. What I absolutely don't accept is that the customer should feel the brunt of that chnage. These companies have made record profit in the last few years, what a wonderful opportunity to reinvest and fix so many of the problems they have caused.
Apologies if I missed one that has already been held. But I saw a member census of beehaw, which was really interesting. I'm not suggesting gathering of any personally identifying info, but more generally getting a sense of who is here on kbin.
I'd just personally like to know if there are more Europeans or people from the UK on here. Reddit did skew very American which is absolutely fine, but I'm wondering if a similar demographic migrated here or if certain groups left?
Nice to meet you! Not sure if you were part of witches vs patriarchy on reddit but I miss that subreddit.
Never used mastodon, starting to think I should make an account as I've abandoned dmy twitter
From my perspective personal responsibility matters regardless of what other people/companies/countries are doing. It may be a small effort, but you will show other people that making change is possible.
So I just came here and deleted Reddit for good.

I don't know about you but I'm sure glad the chief exec of Shell cares about our futures.......
OC Can we have a kbin census?

For myself I spent the last few days playing Minecraft with my daughter.
