I, for one, welcome our new arachnid overlords.

Most games, especially so called Triple A games, have too much text and NPC dialog. The last thing we need is more of this crap that the developers don’t even care about enough to write. How about we focus on making the gameplay good and not how we can fire more developers?

Is this an AI written story? At different points in the article it says in the UK, or Sacramento, or Delhi 🤔

Iconic David Fincher video. So very much of its time. RIP Tatjana Patitz.

When I was in the office and buying beans for our automatic machine the Lavazza beans were the most reliable, consistent and highest quality “supermarket” beans I could find for a reasonable price. Personally I liked the Rossa. For myself at home I do use a local small batch roaster and get a subscription. It’s about twice as much cost wise but still works out at only 40p (I’m in the UK) for an espresso, which I’m happy with.

I used to have a bean to cup machine and this is basically the only way I could do it with a single hopper. I didn’t weigh it. I just used a scoop and got it down so I could eyeball the amount of beans per serving. It’s not too onerous. The thing to keep in mind is that most of these machines use a timer to dose the beans, so it’s not by weight. It also varies by beans, roast etc. Some beans will take longer to grinder than others. Finally I’d always aim to put slightly less beans in the hopper than the machines timer called for, to make sure there wouldn’t be any left for the next cup.

Oat milk is probably the best, imho. Although don’t dismiss soya milk, especially the barista versions. Personally I went cold turkey on milk in coffee years ago and never looked back. If it’s lacking something without milk, try different coffee! 20 years ago I was a 100% grande latte drinker, but now I’m a freshly ground double espresso every morning.

Right. So. I’m and old fart, and the first 7 inch single I bought was “I Wanna Be A Winner” by Brown Sauce when I was 8 or 9. A pile of crap written by B.A. Robertson and performed by a fake group of Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin and Maggie Philbin. The B-Side had the theme from Swap Shop, for it was some sort of Swap Shop tie-in. Unfortunately it wasn’t the good theme for Swap Shop, it was a crappy one they used for the last season. The second single I bought was “Dead Ringer for Love” by Meat Loaf. Which was somewhat better.

Duck Game has been reversed engineered, decompiled and uploaded to GitHub with improvements and bug fixes. So anyone can download this and build it. It’s all the other Adult Swim / WB games that are more of a worry.

Personally I wish they just made a bunch more Steamworld Digs. They could keep churning those out and I would lap them up.

Questions about cleaning a PET (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I’ve had some pretty bad experience about cleaning older Machines such as my NES, where I’ve accidentally rubbed a lot of the letters and number off and noticed too late. Thats something im particularly worried about when it comes to the keycaps. Is there a reason to worry or tactics I should try to avoid rubbing the letters...

My approach is to start with the least aggressive cleaners and work up if the weak one doesn’t work. So basically start with dish detergent, then window/surface cleaner, alcohol, and WD-40. Acetone is the final solution, but since it melts plastic its only useful on metal or ceramic. The lettering on the NES and Commodore keys will come off with alcohol. You should always test alcohol on a small area first.

For rust, soak in white vinegar and then scrub to neutralise and remove. You should then rinse well and clean to get rid of the vinegar.

Personally I’ve only ever retrobrited plastic, but I tend not to anymore because it really does make it more brittle. Also it can be patchy on anything other than white/beige.

I have a cheap set of nylon brushes I bought specifically for this, they are a good compromise. Softer than a toothbrush and get into smaller spaces.

As a not quite teenager I listened to his afternoon show religiously in the early 80s. Got myself an FM tuner for my HiFi a few months ago and had been listening to his pick of the pops on and off this year - he was definitely a radio DJ of a bygone age, but it was somewhat nostalgic hearing his voice again. Tragic to have gone seemingly so suddenly.

I dunno. I feel like expensive boots have turned to crap over the last few years.

The PS2 controller isn’t wireless/Bluetooth, it’s got a big old PS1/PS2 wired connector. You should be able to pair a PS4 controller with an Android device and it has (more or less) the same layout.
