The season of the UK revival of Miss Saigon at Sheffield Theatres, starring Joanna Ampil as the Engineer, has extended by a week. Originally scheduled to close Saturday 11 August, it is now closing 19 August....

So the play Yellow Face was inspired by David Henry Hwang's own, previous play Face Value. Face Value was inspired by the protests over Boublil & Schoenberg's Miss Saigon. Miss Saigon is an adaptation of the opera Madama Butterfly by Puccini. Madama Butterfly the opera is an adaptation of the short story 'Madame Butterfly' by John Luther Long. 'Madame Butterfly' the short story is an adaptation of the novel Madame Chrysantheme by Pierre Loti. How long can this chain continue?

Maybe David Henry Hwang should turn Yellow Face into a musical? (Although, arguably, he already sort of did this with his show Soft Power that he co-wrote with Jeanine Tesori.)
