This is not how it works. Google has its own copy, possibly a stale one. Nothing Reddit can do about it. As much as I'd love to blame it on Reddit (or Google for that matter), this is just a search engine working as intended.
okay Google, how about this. I already pay for premium, but Im too lazy to disable my adblocker for just your site, can we just call it a draw and move on?
I never watched Youtube much until I started using Invidious. How about they make their experience non-shit first? Ads aside, it's just so much more pleasant to use a UI that doesn't lag nor try to bombard my attention span at every chance.

Sadly unlikely. People don't come to youtube because they like youtube. People come to youtube because the content they want is on youtube, and the content creators surely don't mind the ads, so that content will remain on youtube.
It gives me hope for the future of beehaw refederating with that instance. They host some interesting communities. To be clear, I fully support beehaw defederating, it's just heartwarming to see instance admins do things that move things forward
I have a noob question. From a technical point of view, why does it matter to server A (beehaw) whether server B (world) federates with C (exploding nazis) or not? Since A is defederated from C, the content should be unavailable anyway. I completely get why a proper moderation of B itself is crucial, but what B federates with should be irrelevant if B itself stays "pure", right? Again, from a technical point of view, because otherwise willingly federating with nazis obviously strongly correlates with allowing nazis inside. To reiterate, how is A directly affected by what B federates with? Is it merely a matter of lobbying or is there some technicality I'm missing here?
So basically when a heated debate between B and C happens, server A still sees one half of it. Is this correct? It makes lots of sense when you put it this way, thank you for the explanation.
I didn't know this last part but then again I didn't question his credentials either. And even if I would, the correct thing would be to admit fault. It's okay to be wrong. It's not okay to stay wrong despite being corrected.
You only ever own a license and possibly a medium, not the game. From the perspective of the law there is very little difference. Now, the terms of use of a particular DRM platform, this is a different matter.
Corporations don't just sit out on new technologies, and no matter how hard you try you can't force them to. Defederating from Meta's new project preemptively is naive, and will not do much of anything....
I agree with OP's title on the social side of the problem, not the technical one. If we allow them to destroy the Fediverse, then it was already lost to begin with. It's not a matter of technology, it's a matter of whether the key people are able to keep it out of the corporate control in the long run. If they can't, then it was all just a matter of time.
EDIT: I don't imply it's a particularly useful thought. It might help with coping though if it would ever happen. Let's enjoy it while it lasts and hope for the best!
Why YSK: I've been seeing an increasing number of phone photos shared online in 9:16, 9:21 or similarly tall aspect ratios, often with parts of the subject cut off. I've asked a few people why they cropped their images that way, and none of them knew they were cropped.
The people that stay never knew they could have something better. It's like people that don't mind the ads, on Reddit or otherwise. If they never got exposed to the pre-ads Internet or to a good ad blocker, they don't even know they could complain about this experience.
Get "Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear" while you're at it too. To echo what @nttea said, while each Baldur's Gate is pretty great on its own, what makes it truly epic and memorable is going from a literal nobody to a godslayer in the span of the series. There are no level resets or character nerfs between the games (apart from you losing most of the equipment) like in most of the other similar series. Instead what rises are the stakes. Basically all BG2 quests are much closer to "slay this dragon, please" than "kill the rats in my basement", you're not a rookie anymore and the game treats you appropriately. Unlike in Mass Effect, it's not just the story that raises stakes, but your tactical options in the actual gameplay increase exponentially too, especially if you have a spellcasting character. Enjoy your adventure!
