Nissan Leafs are plenty DIY repairable. It was part of our decision making process when considering buying an EV. There's also electric conversions if that's your jam.
Are you seriously comparing devastating and life threatening diseases and bodily waste to food that thousands of people eat every day without complaint?
You do realise that mobile data is non-existent or limited in some counties right? Even here in New Zealand mobile data is still limited or expensive and the main communication, especially between people who don't know each other, is SMS. Some encryption is still better than nothing.
You don't get people's problems because I'm going to hazard a guess that it's not a problem for you and therefore you don't actually have any lived experience with the issue. Or not currently anyway. But given you don't seem to be too interested in peoples actual experiences and seem more interested in talking over people and insisting that your eristic arguments are the only right answer, I'm going to leave this conversation here and continue to have a hard time converting family and friends to Signal because they still use SMS and Signal doesn't give a shit about people in countries where SMS dominates.
I'm so sad about Fisher & Paykel. It was a local (New Zealand) manufacturer that prided itself on quality. It had such a great reputation for quality it eventually took that great quality internationally. And then capitalism and enshittification got its grubby hands on it and turned it into another trash brand. Yet another quality local company disappearing off overseas, screwing over local workers and trashing the quality in favour of profit.
So the thing with Debian and any Debian based distro like Ubuntu or Linux Mint is there is no big centralized software repo like the AUR. Yes there is the apt repository but if you want something that’s not in there, get ready to read the documentation or follow random guides....
I've been using Arch almost a decade now (after distro hopping between various Debian based distros), installed it on a bunch of different devices and never once had to read about selinux.
Arch maintainers take care of stuff too. If you don't want to update much, then update every three months or however long you like 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve picked up an eink Android tablet, which is awesome. However I have plenty of ebooks I’ve purchased over the years on places such as Humble, and I was wondering whether there was a self hosted solution like Plex/Emby/Jellyfin but designed for ebooks....
I have heard that weed from the 70s era only had ~2% THC where now at least dispensary grade can hit 20% to 25% THC. That could well be due to the drug war selecting for more powerful highs in smaller packages, but i would think that would also reduce the quantity needed to get the high you want.
I'm in a country with a fairly restrictive medical cannabis system. I can't compare stuff from back in the 70s or whatever as I wasnt born yet lol. But I can compare the lowest THC strain I have against the highest. I have 12.5%, 15% and 21%. (For context I only vape and only microdose).
The lowest one can give the highest one a run for its money in terms of how much it hits from one inhalation. But it doesn't last ovr many hits. The lowest might only be 2-3 hits from the bowl. Whereas the highest I can get easily double that before it becomes naff.
This for me means the stronger stuff is way better value for money.
The downside is that you don't get as much terpenes - the lower strength will be a bowl a session. Whereas the higher strength, a bowl can last two or three sessions and I'm only getting the yummy terpene hits off that first session.
I have the same thing. What I find works for me is to vape a little flower in addition to the edible. No idea why, but it's somehow like vaping some 'activates' the edible.
I have the inverse where I found pacman intuitive and apt confusing. I distro hopped before settling on Arch and it was pacman that was like a light bulb for me.
I did have notes (a cheatsheet if you will) on the different parts of pacman switches but, at least for me, know what each letter stood for mde things much easier to remember.
As others have said, you can install Endeavour instead. If you want a gui installer, you can still install pamac (Manjaro's gui for pacman and AUR).
I'm on Arch and I still find pamac useful at times.
The Arch Wiki is excellent. Endeavour has a great community that will help out if you get stuck.
There's plenty of tutorial videos that can help get you started.
I highly recommend using the man command. Appending --help is also great for when you're not quite sure what a pacman (or any other command for that matter) works.
Can someone explain use case for me? I assume it's for folks who don't autodelete messages and want the encryption and non-spying but the same chat 'archive' of other apps like FB Messenger, WhatsApp, etc.?
That sucks to hear. Back when I migrated to the Fediverse, I chose Kbin just simply because the interface suited me better. Frustrating when aholes ruin a good thing.
Once upon a time, I totally would have agreed with you. But I have increasingly severe Memory and Cognitive Impairment that now makes comprehending text based instructive really difficult. I can however pick up demonstrated instructions very easily which means I'm now mostly reliant on these sorts of videos.
So while it may be annoying or not useful to you, it's essential to folks like me.
hi all, to my understanding the above are like WINE in that they try to remedy an unideal situation and thus have to operate with older protocols. is that understanding correct or are they independent / capable of being independent
There's a big difference between a publicly published newspaper and shdy companies opaquely data mining people's internet browser activity either completely secretly, burying it in a eula/tos or using shdy language to manipulate people into giving up their data.
The first thing to remember with a green out is that you can feel like you're dying even though you're not. So first step is to be psychologically supportive - calming, quiet, supportive and nurturing. Reassure people that you won't die from a cannabis overdose, it just feels awful but it will pass. Lots of reminders that it will pass.
THC metabolites are water soluble. You want to flush them out. So drink lots of water. I STRONGLY recommend using electrolytes in water though. Coconut water is great, sugar-free electrolyte drops otherwise. Sports drinks as a last resort. Even just putting a pinch on salt in a glass of water is better than plain water. This is because too much THC can plummet your blood pressure and drinking plain water or getting deficient in electrolytes will make low blood pressure even worse.
You can also drink things that have a diuretic effect to get your body flushing fluids faster. I don't recommend coffee though or anything with large amounts of caffeine because that can make you fee worse. I'm personally fond of rooibos tea. Skip this if someone is vomiting.
CBD can help offset the unpleasant psychological effects of greening out. B-Caryophyllene and limonene terpenes are also great for this (black pepper is high in Caryophyllene which is why it works as a remedy). Think pepper, cloves, rosemary, Oregano, cinnamon, and citrus.
Bonus make a spicy mulled citrus drink (add a little ginger for nausea) that does double duty to help flush out the THC and calms and soothes with its warmth and terpenes.
After the vomiting is past or once someone feels like eating, the usual fatty hangover foods work wonders. 😊
Please stop. You want to have a go at devs on an open source project and say that they're mentally ill but dude, ranting like this, making multiple accounts to post the same stuff, this sort of rage... it's not healthy. I say this with complete kindness. For your own sake, let it go.
