binnin,

Don't.

If they're going to make anything out of it, it can't' be a weekend deal. They need to do 1-3 months and get more on board til the shit's unusable. Otherwise, corpos are just going to wait them out and wave their hands at the temper tantrum.

binnin,

It's all still there and it's unlikely that it's going anywhere without being copied by someone in the unlikely scenario that reddit were to die out. The likely scenario is still that the users will capitulate with the first extremely minor concession and you'll get all your memes and porn back, don't worry. (except the tbs of nsfw imgur deleted forever a couple months ago)

binnin, (edited )

I totally agree with that, but that is the entire point.

Just saying worst comes to worst, it's probably not going to be 'lost' what with discords out there for most popular niche communities anyway. Someone's got that shit saved anyway. And 'worst comes to worst' is likely not the probable outcome.

It is a good thing that useful things are unavailable at the moment. I know it'll suck for some people who are used to it just being right there, but it's going to be temporary. And again that is the entire idea.

*edit- re-read more carefully. Yeah, going read-only is totally fair too. But hopefully for whatever content you're moderating there'll be something on here or wherever too after, and some of that same stuff kicks over on the reboot too.

We're only on reddit at this point because that's where everyone is. After a few posts and clicking around, hell this is a competent enough reddit clone. The cat's out the bag, reddit doesn't really have anything other than userbase anymore.

binnin,

So just trying to parse this- is this a thread then that is hosted by kbin that was initiated by beehaw but is now an instance entirely separate from whatever that is? It's just on kbin now?

Cause yeah, I'm kind of with the other guy, I'm not moving over there either brother. Already in this one.

binnin,

they're basically asking the jobless people who mod full time for free to enthusiastically jump into an executive top down 'here do it like this now' decision shitshow that normal people quit their jobs over

binnin,

Not really with stuff like reddit though, right? At least not in my experience but could be wrong.

Generally speaking though there are people who care about the stuff you went to reddit for and they are still going to be out there, it's a community building exercise.

binnin,

you're the man too, the exodus is on? at least the 'traffic is enormous holy shit' prompt on the right is a good sign.

someone's gotta help this guy though if it's just one dude and his server rack in his spare room

*edit works looks like. yea this is cool, pretty much reddit, nice
