Meh. I used reddit since about a year after its launch. I noticed the last two days my thumb reaching for the reddit app on my home screen. But then I pause, remember I deleted rif, and just log into kbin and try to be active. Right now sorting by new has been amazing. Lots of new magazines (shout out to the one I made tvsuggestions).
I think you can get the reddit dopamine hit by being active on kbin. Investigate! Explore the site! Make a zine!
The plus side is I'm using it way less than reddit while simultaneously being way more active on the medium. Win win
Honestly large scale things like this sort of organically self organize and evolve. I'm sure some people will be the old Reddit people, some will be new, etc etc. I started using reddit around a year after its launch and was super active. Over the years my interaction with reddit became mindlessly browsing. Kbin has been fun because I'm way more motivated to be active as it's a new, exciting community.
I think we should all just be friendly and let things go how they go. That's pretty much what's going to happen anyway. I like that people here generally seem nice and thoughtful though.
Honestly fuck reddit. I was so tired of it, but there was nowhere else to go. At least I can develope a more healthy relationship with social media here
I understand what you're saying, but in the broader scheme of the internet we should have the ability to dictate what of our data and actions get broadcast and therefore able to be mined by advertisers or other nefarious entities. This is actually a hugely important idea in fighting the corporatization of the internet. We need to stop letting mega corps build profiles on us based on our clicks.
All hail Ernest! He's probably scared stupid right now (I'm so sorry Ernest. I have a name irl that gets made fun of also). But yeah jokes aside buy that man a coffee, donate, help him out. He's living in the game changer world right now
Russian and Chinese authoritarianism is bad. America incarcerates more people than both. A French cop shooting a 17 year old during a traffic stop is probably also not a useful use of state force. I could be wrong, but I hope this answers your question.
Unless Elon is a secret jujitsu guy Zucks wins this easy. Zuckerberg actually trains. Both suck and billionaires as a class shouldn't exist. But as a big MMA fan for 20+ years and knowing Zuckerberg actually takes it moderately seriously, Elon gonna tap.
I still don't really understand what your dissatisfied with. You said something about people downvoting too much? Say you see someone who is downvoting in a way you don't like. What is your recourse? Why do you want that information?
There will be. For now the mobile version is usable. I just threw a link to it where RiF used to be. But yeah stay at it. The more engaged we are the more need for a polished mobile app there will be. Donate, use the medium, etc. Mobile app can't possibly be too far out.
