Should we be surprised at this, after the whole Anti-Meta Pact thing got so much traction? Like on one hand we don’t want to federate with them, but on the other we’re unhappy when they won’t?
I believe you are correct about upvotes. To my knowledge, downvotes don’t federate at all (ActivityPub may not support them, for all I know), so what they do here is merely affect reputation points.
I see you’re on a different Kbin instance. Was this intended to be a threaded reply, out of curiosity? Because it shows up as a top-level comment on the post for me.
Yes, but my bigger point is that it’s not threaded as a reply to one of that user’s comments.
Edit: Oops, nevermind. I saw their comments elsewhere down here but didn’t realize they were OP. Just one of the interface things on Kbin that needs improvement.
Edit 2: I need to figure out how to do strikethrough text on here

Personally, I prefer Lemmy over Kbin because I hate karma and reputation points. I do not want to worry about downvotes, and Lemmy feels so fresh. I can post things that will receive lots of downvotes and not need to worry about losing karma.
It's been great 4 days here on fediverse for me. But I started to notice that there is barely any content in form of videos or gifs. Every content is just static in form is images or text. This is what I am really missing here compared to reddit. Is there any particular reason behind it?
Since it sounds like you have auto media preview turned off, just tap that little icon to the left of the link, and you'll see the image load below the link.

I'm seeing a lot of chat about the migration of "reddit brand" concepts like AMA and IAmA. We should probably come up with alternatives? Who's got some suggestions?
He would be the perfect person to AMA as he’s already associated with Reddit revolts, and it would result in tremendous media coverage and mark fediverse as a viable alternative to Reddit. What do you think?
Two have been set up on Kbin: (including links for both lemmy and kbin users until the kbin bugs get fixed) !IAmA (kbin link) !askmeanything (kbin link)
I haven't created a Lemmy account, and I probably won't. I chose Kbin primarily because it's written in PHP which gives me the best opportunity to contribute, since I know the language. Haven't done much of that yet, but I am watching development and it's very active. Lots of community involvement and people trying to help. Ernest is overwhelmed but steadily working on scaling up the entire operation (infrastructure, organization, processes, etc.) with help from some great people.
Hi lemmings, I switched over from Reddit 10 days ago now but I couldn't find a mobile client that I was happy with with an experience similar to the Reddit experience I was used to. So I decided to build my own and I hope you will like it as well!...
Meta's upcoming AcitivityPub-enabled app Threads will only come with an "import from Mastodon" option. The new network won't federate on day one. (mastodon.social)

PSA: Upvote is not an upvote like you are used to (like Reddit) - "Boost" is the Reddit Upvote
Like the title says, if you want to upvote something on KBin, you should use the Boost link, not the upvote button (Why? Don't know...)...

What is your opinion about Lemmy not having karma but Kbin having reputation points?

Why do I not find any video/gif content here?

Whaf do you think of hosting an AMA with John Oliver to make Lemmy/kbin officially a viable Reddit replacement?
He would be the perfect person to AMA as he’s already associated with Reddit revolts, and it would result in tremendous media coverage and mark fediverse as a viable alternative to Reddit. What do you think?
