koncertejo,

Your Name (Kimi no Na wa). I've seen it at least a dozen times; it's always incredibly emotionally impactful every time. Really beautiful movie.

koncertejo,

Spearhead from Space. The new era takes off running immediately. It's a very tight alien invasion script mixed with a great performance by Pertwee. I love the Doctor doing a regeneration story now that it's more of an established element of the lore; it's happened twice now. I love Liz Shaw and her introduction to what UNIT does ("In the last decade, we’ve been sending probes deeper and deeper into space. We’ve drawn attention to ourselves."). The Autons are great. I feel the directing is particularly on point; there's one really nicely shot scene with the camera handheld in among jostling reporters all trying to get to Lethbridge Stewart in the hospital; it feels so chaotic.

koncertejo,

No way. That was rumored for a long time with the Switch controller too. I really don't believe it's something they'd try. (Nevermind that I'm still absolutely convinced that the most innovative thing they could do for controllers is something a little more out of left field like the Steam Controller, but that'll never catch on).

koncertejo,

Really brilliant show. I got hooked on it immediately and watched the whole thing inside of two days. I am a bit worried about how they'll follow it up as I got the sense from reading behind the scenes details that season one was meant to be much more of a closed story and that it was the producers that suggested the ending should be a bit more open ended. I'm trying to take it for what it is and not buy into any of the mystery boxes they're setting up for later seasons.

koncertejo, to fediverse

Very curious how well kbin can work as a Mastodon replacement in addition to a threadiverse reader. Does it work as a one-stop shop for fediverse browsing?

koncertejo,

I do like that Chris Pine has the insight to say that Trek movies should cost less to make and should be a little more fan-oriented instead of chasing the action crowd. I feel like that's actually pretty close to what the D&D movie ended up being, maybe he has a knack for staring in those sorts of things.
