You don’t have to clean your ~/.cache every now and then. You have to figure out which program eats so much space there, ensure that it is not misconfigured and file a bugreport.

Thank you @ernest for all you do and all you have done!

Absolutely do not want to see you run yourself into the ground over kbin matters, your family and your health come first.

I don't question your judgement, but I think the "step down" bit is a bit extreme, even if you fail to meet the deadline. Worst case, maybe let the community appoint a second-in-command temporarily to get some things moving along while you take a well deserved break?

If I can't meet the deadline, I will step down from leading the project and transfer full rights over the repository and instance to the contributors.

I respect you entirely but this is a bit dramatic. Not all projects can be on time due to complications and no one is asking you to step down. Please just do what is necessary - you're doing fantastic!

Looking forward to the first version!

/kbin project management costs, financing, future plans

I wrote the first line of code for /kbin on January 14, 2021. Around this time, I started working remotely and decided that the time I used to spend commuting to the office would be devoted to /kbin. Throughout this entire period, /kbin has been a hobby project that I developed in my free time. It was also when Lemmy started...

@ernest, if Kbin starts making okay money, don't be afraid to give yourself a salary. It's important that you get to eat too.

Distros that don’t respect your privacy are hard to find, so privacy isn’t really a factor here. You’re just going to get everyone’s favourite distro here, regardless of whether it fits your other requirements.

What kind of hardware do you use?
How stable or fresh would you like your distro to be?
What wind of desktop experience do you prefer?

Also note that the apps you use (on your PC or in the browser) usually far outshadow the OS w.r.t. privacy intrusion.

There’s a difference between a federated identify and single-sign on. Your identity /u/mango_master@lemmy.world IS federated. You don’t need to have a separate login for each instance. You can use that identity to interact with any instance much the same way I am using my federated identity to currently respond to you.

Judge rules White House pressured social networks to “suppress free speech” (arstechnica.com)

A federal judge yesterday ordered the Biden administration to halt a wide range of communications with social media companies, siding with Missouri and Louisiana in a lawsuit that alleges Biden and his administration violated the First Amendment by colluding with social networks "to suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and...
