apparently r/anarchism has been in lockdown for quite some time now and they link to their own reddit alternative called raddle.me, which is not fediverse integrated, sadly. they also have a long list of alternatives, but lemmy isn’t one of them...
I wish there was more of that stuff on the fediverse. I am so fucking tired of seeing nothing but political and anti-reddit circlejerk, since every time I log on here that's all I ever see. I don't even disagree with it, it's just that there is only so much "we are all going to die and there is nothing we can do about it!" outrage I can handle and it's making me constantly miserable, and this was part of why I left Reddit in the first place.
Around 2017-2018, there used to be a huge circlejerk online about how Fortnite was the dumbest thing ever, to the point where "Fortnite bad, Minecraft good" was part of the infamous Keanu Chungus 100 meme. Why did it get so much hate, and why did it stop?
I don't actually use TikTok or even the "sliding" function on youtube shorts, but I feel like my attention span has gotten much worse after they started getting popular. Even watching a 2 minute video feels dreadfully long, let alone a 10 or 20 minute video, so I end up watching a mostly short animation memes instead.
If you didn't know, on DuckDuckGo you can search for posts or magazines with site:kbin.social just like you would with Reddit. The same applies to any other Fediverse site like Kbin, Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.. I was really frustrated because it seems like Google was intentionally suppressing them....
Before I joined the Fediverse, it felt like the Internet was composed of only 4-5 social media sites and a bunch of corporate news articles, with only a couple of old remnant sites that looked out of place like a historic church in a business district. All of a sudden, though, it feels like people are creating lots of new sites....
TL;DR, my computer broke because I spilled water onto it. I got a new phone recently and my number was changed, so I couldn't use that to log back in with 2-step verification, and I tried send it to my alternate email instead. It says I have to "wait 24 hours" but I never get the fucking verification email so apparently I have...
NASA's Juno spacecraft, which has been probing Jupiter since 2016, captured the moment lightning crackled in the gas giant's stormy atmosphere at its north pole.
One of the main issues I have with the Fediverse is that I can't view any of the posts on Fedi. sites in my RSS feed. is there any way to fix this, and if not I would really like to see that feature added somehow.
I'm aware this is probably because of SEO bs, but I can't google posts on the Fediverse. You can easily find posts/accounts on twitter or Reddit using Google, but not Mastodon, Kbin, Lemmy, etc. The only way to find ANYTHING about them is by going directly through the sites themselves, and typing in the entire domain like it's...
I got some polish, but I don't really have any idea how to use it and my first attempt was messy and looked terrible. How exactly do I do it, and what would I need?

Anyone else notice that short videos are making their attention span worse?

While changing all of my comments to "fuck u/spez" in PowerDeleteSuite, I kept getting this message from the AutoMod.
Does anyone feel like the Internet is alive again?

What is it currently like on Reddit, to people still using it?
If anyone on here is still using Reddit, I want to know what's going on post-blackout.
Is this cup safe to drink from? I got it from a thrift store, but then I found out about a vintage Garfield glass that contained lead and cadmium, and looks similar.
