Committee Backs 4 Streetcar Extensions (urbanmilwaukee.com)

Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. sold to FairWave coffee collective (www.bizjournals.com)

“FairWave offered a unique opportunity to share ownership with Anodyne’s key, long-term employees,” McClutchy said. “Anodyne staff will remain and continue to build what they have all helped to grow. With FairWave’s collective support, Anodyne is poised for further growth and great success.”

`Milwaukee coffee business Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. has been acquired by FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective.

Founded in 1999, Anodyne is a small-batch roaster with café locations around the Milwaukee area. FairWave, based in Kansas City, Missouri, says it provides coffee companies the infrastructure to scale while keeping marketing, sales and management local. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Matt McClutchy, Anodyne’s founder, remains involved as an investor in FairWave. He said in an emailed statement that he and his wife, Lacee Perry, have been honored and proud to lead the business over the past 24 years. They’re rooting for Anodyne and FairWave’s success, he said.

“FairWave offered a unique opportunity to share ownership with Anodyne’s key, long-term employees,” McClutchy said. “Anodyne staff will remain and continue to build what they have all helped to grow. With FairWave’s collective support, Anodyne is poised for further growth and great success.”

The business is now led by Steve Kessler, Nolan Truttschel, Laura Lown and Stephanie Burton, according to a news release from FairWave.

Anodyne will continue to operate cafés and offer its wholesale products. The roastery’s cafés are in Wauwatosa and in Milwaukee’s Bay View, Walker’s Point and Third Ward neighborhoods.

FairWave said Anodyne is the first Milwaukee-based coffee roaster to join its platform.`

Eyes on Milwaukee: A Plan To Save Third Ward Swing Bridge (urbanmilwaukee.com)

The 800-ton bridge, which is believed to have sat idle since at least the 1980s, would be rehabilitated so it can again swing and would also gain two new pedestrian paths, mirroring the railroad tracks that once ran across it, as well as a second level with a central cafe and bar. A structure would be built in the middle of the...
