AeroPress - my coffee maker for the last 15 years (www.youtube.com)

Bought this in 2008 and am still using it in 2023. It's compact, durable and has produced great coffee for me, nearly everyday, for the last 15 years. All you need is a kettle and good coffee beans. Add coffee, pour hot water, wait 1 minute then press the plunger to get your morning brew.

wnose,

Just started on kbin so I'm still trying to find my way...how is kbin moderated? How will it prevent the scammers, bots and alt-right from screwing up kbin?

wnose,

After June 30, the mods who rely on 3rd party apps have a hard choice, since the in-house Reddit apps blow. And mods are unpaid, so why put up with shitty treatment?

wnose,

There are 2 types of mines: open pit and underground (tunnels, etc). Open pit: they dynamite certain areas, then get big trucks to haul the rubble. They keep going until all of the minerals have been extracted. Example: nickel mines in Cuba. IMO, not very dangerous as long as safety precautions are followed. There is some risk that the walls of the open pit mine might collapse.

Underground: this is the type of mining with real danger. Anytime you hear of a mining incident, it's likely to be underground. They do take a LOT of precautions which is why modern mining is a lot safer compared to 80 years ago. The ever present danger is collapse of the tunnel or formation.

A work related problem in accounting would be really hard to tell to someone not in accounting, since it's so technical. (e.g. Damnit, my cash flows didn't balance because the tax manager shoved in a prior year tax adjustment in the AOCI!!!)

That's why it's common for accountants to marry other accountants - so they can actually share with each other.

wnose,

Tell them you're a CPA or working on your CPA.

wnose,

If you watch Band of Brothers, they shoot a lot of running Germans too.

wnose,

It really bewilders me how a big site like Reddit decides to alienate a good chunk of their membership. Redditors ARE Reddit - if they leave, you don't have Reddit. And what's going to happen to the IPO when the users and mods leave enmasse??? Is it going the way of VOAT, which was overtaken by the alt-right?

A small FAQ to hopefully help new users to kbin (kilioa.org)

I wanted to post this here since I want to help as much as I can in my own way to people coming here for the first time. I hope it is useful and helpful! I tried to assume low knowledge with the Fediverse in my responses which I collected here from a different post and assembled into a single article....

wnose,

My question is how is kbin's magazines moderated? r/canada got hijacked by the altright and a subreddit /r/onguardforthee sprang up in response.

wnose,

Cooking. I always had a DIY mentality and the advent of youtube cooking videos split open everything. Tips, tricks, improvements. And it's a very useful and applicable skill to learn.
