I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...
I think for a while leading up to the recent session stealing hack, there has been a massive amount of positivity from Lemmy users around all kinds of new Lemmy apps, frontends, and tools that have been popping up lately....
We really need a better way to log in from 3rd parties. It'd be nice if we could crowd fund features, I'd def pay up for some sort of app-password system or other
On the desktop version of the site i can just put the name after m/ in the URL (sans !) and i can sub from there. but how do i do this from the pwa i use on my phone?
Not being able to transfer more than 100MB is just them lacking motivation. They don't even need to host files just make everything bigger than 100 MB a torrent or something similarly p2p. Skype's file transfers worked like that if I remember right.
Let everyone who wants the file also serve the file to other people that want it.
@Quills its basically just chatrooms with synchronized video watching. I hate picking what to watch and i like to joke with other people about what we are watching. they also vote somehow but i haven't penetrated that far.
Some Twitters users: Find me on (insert platform).
Many Twitter users: Is this thing on? Shit, I need to get back to Twitter. Stay and Fight! Mastodon sucks!
Musk in (circle one: Dec/Jan/Feb/March): Fuck you.
Many Twitter users: I'm waiting for Bluesky. Stay and Fight. Mastodon sucks. Post is boring, but here's a screen shot of my Twitter post. Don't even know what the fediverse may be.
Musk in April: Welcome back for the Trump arraignment and fuck you.
Many Twitter users:
Musk in July: Fuck you.
Many Twitter users: I need a Bluesky invite!
Zuckerberg in July: And a fuck you, Elon.
Many Twitter users: Yes! We love it! Wait...who the fuck are these IG influencers? You know, this just isn't working for me. Oh, and the fediverse is a failure. You people suck the most.
Gaming, news, tech, general literature. All of these are somewhat thriving, with a steady influx of posts and comments. At the same time, the userbase is sorely lacking for more niche communities. In my case it'd be stuff like poetry, yoga, religion, linguistics, meditation. Or many other communities I'd doubt they'd form a...

It seems very reasonable to me. It doesn't just take time to moderate a sub it takes emotional energy. It doesn't cost us anything to make alt accounts if its so important to participate instead of only viewing.
Probably an edge case, but I have a sweet Mastodon vanity username and I'd like to use the power of the Fediverse. Interacting with Lemmy from Mastodon itself is a little clunky (I acknowledge that it's still early days!)
Is anyone developing a Lemmy client that lets you use a Mastodon account?

With the recent hack, there is now irrefutable proof of malicious actors trying to break Lemmy and steal user accounts. Please be careful about entering your password into random Lemmy apps!

While larger, more general communities are thriving on the Fediverse - I'm missing out on the niche communities
